Way too expensive for anyone outside of the US from what I can see.

Performance is good for sure, but at that price point, not so much.

HH: Any chance going forward that 21:9 benchmarks may make an appearance? I'm seeing lotsa people with ultrawide setups these days..

We knew that already that the stock VRM was weak, EK literally has their card at 30degree C and it Power throttles.

That's still only compared to a single 980. I want settings compared to 980 SLI. To see if one 1080 is worth the upgrade. Comparing single performance when they boasted that it was faster than 980 SLI means nothing to me.

Take best case scenario, fps of 1x 980 and multiply it by 2... i see from most benches that the 1080 is doing better than 980 sli in 1440 and 4k res .

Edit: if i were you i'd only upgrade to one 1080 if i had serious issues with sli 980.

I currently have two 290s in crossfire; I am very impressed with the 1080.

The truth is, no one really cares about games like hitman and AOTS. Both are complete trash. All the really big games favor NVidia.

Hell, witcher 3 crossfire performance tanked since one of the patches a while back, and it was never fixed. The game is a stuttering unplayable mess on my 290 crossfire setup. AMD never fixed the issue.

I honestly grew tired of waiting for crossfire profiles and optimization from amd. think about all the games where we had to wait months for optimizations.

I may just sell my 290s, which are water cooled using kraken bracket, and slap that on the 1080 (two of them)

Alright. I guess I didn't get that. I'm not saying the card is bad, just doesn't it doesn't seem like a good idea to move from 980 SLI just yet. It might be a better idea to see what performance increases drivers bring before I drop the cash. Still though, matching performance to the 980 SLI in a single card is a pretty amazing feat.

Now to see how the vendor variants do, I think I'll be selling off my 980 and grabbing one of these.

You can thank AMD for nVidia giving us a mid-end chip for a high-end price, AMD's lack of competition has halted advancements for both nVidia and Intel.

I wanna know where i can find NVIDIA GeForce Driver 368.13 that HH used on this review.

Or is this a Pascal only driver that ships with the 1080. I don't see it anywhere and Nvidia hasn't updated the driver page yet to even inc 10xx cards.

HH linked to NVIDIA GeForce Driver 368.13 on page 12 of the review but it's not there.

There is actually a larger relative performance gap between the reference 980Ti and its AIB versions than between the 1080 and the AIB 980TI's. WTH is this? Not enough DX12 content out there or something? Poor launch drivers?

I don't get what you expect? The performance gap to infinitely increase?

Yes people expecting greater performance, but forgetting 980 Ti is on big Maxwell die compared to 1080 what's on 300mm Pascal die.

The gap will be lot bigger on the 610mm Pascal die compared to 980 Ti.
