Thats what I thought. But theres a very wide misconception, not only here @ guru, but all over the net that todays games NEED as much vram as you can throw at them. People are basing their GPU purchases on that as a major factor. Although you know better, that misconception isnt going away any time soon. Personally I doubt the 390x would even exist if not based on that misconception, and which AMD will milk for all its worth.

Of course no ones asking you to drop whatever you're doing, but at some future date when you're not too busy, might be worthwhile to dispel this misconception with a proper test review. But for now, please relax and enjoy your summer! :)

we got 499€ for 390x gigabyte gaming and 599€ for 980 palit in finland.

While 290x goes for 309€ direct cu 2.

While you won't reach the performance of 390x with 290x unless you do some magic. My 290x won't go beyond 1080 without glitching the hell out(and ram won't go anywhere). While 390x does 1200mhz. And my card uses 30W more stock according to g3d tests.

how come you used old drivers ie AMD Catalyst 15.x (15.200.0.0 May 5) R9 300 Driver and not the drivers that are out now kinder makes the hole review borked ?

Same drivers used in other reviews (HardOCP, HardwareCanucks). Pretty sure AMD has a say which drivers to use in the reviews.

just strange to use so older driver when new driver would have given a better review dont you think ?

Apparently AMD locked the 290X out of the review drivers (PCGH.de) for this one...

maybe vs the reference card (863mhz )

    OC vs OC
    http://pclab.pl/art64397-37.html

390X have not even a chance in Witcher 3 , GTA5 and Watch Dogs !

As i said the same card with a new name:

    2013 ; 290x
    2015 ; 390x (+50MHZ) :crapper:

    Thats all.
    ...what a disappointment

Not that trust that site, the clock on that 780ti was 876 or so. Over clocked 780ti fared better.

    You can not compare a 390X (1050mhz - Custom) with a reference card (GTX780Ti -863mhz)

In addition the GTX780TI clocks down at 80C (reference)
    ...

    780Ti (1065mhz)
    390x (1050mhz)

    http://pclab.pl/art64397-37.html
    ...that's a fair comparison !

    THX PCLAB :)
....one of the few sites I trust. :)

Compare the 290/390X with a 780TI MATRIX ROG and the AMD card see no light. FACT !
