That's pretty wild how many more watts this card has to pull to get that 10% on average FPS improvement. Went from 208 watts for a stock 3070 to 308 watts for this 3070 Ti. Almost 50% more power for 10% performance. I was waiting for the 3070 Ti but I think the plain 3070 is going to be my 1440p card. Back on the hunt.

    serously,at this point,hold on.
this generation still requires you to make tradeoffs - geforce with vram, radeon with features.
why desperately look for cards that will be limited one way or the other.
if they made a 3070 with 16G then sure, but don't overpay for a card that is gonna come short one way or another.

imo 3080 at msrp is the closest to being a really good buy this generation.and look how much they cost.
    no way.

I think this and FE review shows once again ( if we assume availability and retail pricing was "normal") what good value the 3080 is. This 3070ti is cheaper but I think most people who are going to be able to afford the 3070ti would have saved a bit more more for the 3080 considering the extra performance etc.

Also, people who could not afford the 3080 but could the 3070 probably would not want to push to the 3070ti as percentage wise it is a big jump for the performance on offer. Normally I think the ti series from nVidia are pretty desirable, but now I think their 3080 and 3070 are better bang for buck.

Of course this is all theoretical with the current situation, but if things return to normal I would probably be looking at the 3070.

Huge disappointment. Only 2 SM more and 5% faster than 3070. Yet 20% more expensive. Price is right between 3070 and 3080, but performance is nearly same as 3070. So basically once again Nvidia bumped prices up.

It should have 56 or 58 SM, not 48 SM.

Cant argue. That may end up being the case even know I have the money to buy today. My poor 1070 is getting old since I bought I release week. I may need to pull the cooler clean and redo thermal paste. I usually never have to do that for a GPU. This is the longest I have held onto a GPU.

Indeed, if we had close to MRSP priced cards available there would be not much point in going for a Ti model over stepping up to the next none Ti.

With the 100 dollars extra in the MSRP, this card is a joke. Nobody should buy this, unless they have lots of money, desperately need a card, and this is the only one available.

I sold my 2070S after ordering 3080.little did I know what was gonna happen to the market, but fortunately just before it exploded I got a 1070 strix for 150eur cause some poor soul ordered a 3070 and tried to offload his old gpu.I thought at this price it was a good buy even if I was gonna keep it as a backup gpu, plus it was gonna allow me to save on cpus and buy ones without igpu.Best decision ever, dunno what I would do without it.And I saved 25eur already buying an F-sku instead of igpu one, future purchases will be non-igpu too.
No need to repaste mine,2GHz oc with temps staying in mid 50s and some sick rgb.I may do a 2x120mm fan upgrade, there's 4-pin pwm fan connectors on the card's pcb.how nice is that ? Sips power too, 160-170w after oc.

What a worthless SKU. I get sick reading anything about graphics cards these days. It’s bad and you can’t even get it.

Thank you very much for the review HH!
I remember those days when a **70 TI could get almost as the **80 version with some little overclock. This is the worst rtx 30 from the series until now

Steam coming out of my ears (!!) with everyone involved, incl retailers like Newegg, selling cards for upwards of $2K US. Will I buy *any* GPU silicon from these industry-wide colluding crime bosses? Absolutely not. Don't even THINK abut blaming China or crypto either: it's way more widespread thievery in motion. Check with me in a couple of years.

Nice review. I guess NVidia's next trick will be to make BSOD drivers.

Well knowing that this market was gonna be flipped up on its head months before it happened I fully prepared as much as I could to make sure I got a card ASAP knowing I may fell have backup plans.

I secured a rx 580 for $150 (my backup card used between gpus / while watercooling teardown is occurring.

Then I sold my 2080ti for $1050 a few weeks before release (when they were becoming hard to find already).

On launch day I said I would not sleep til I got a card secured (as in shipped no "pre-orders" would count (though I got those too).

After 8 hours of chasing my notifications (ones I put together myself running on not only my desktop but my phone as well) my notifications were finally able to beat all the others early enough that I secured a card Asus tuf 3080 for msrp ($699).

I ran no bots or anything automated just everyone's discord notify and followed all the Twitter people plus the usual nowinstock type places but like I said I also knew counting on them meant fighting 1000s of other users getting the exact same ping.

So I had my own setup put together and ready to go day 1 with alarms that were like nuclear sirens and couldn't be easy shut up (to make sure I didn't miss any 3am stock drops).

It worked for me like I said after 8 hours but it was so useful all my friends asked me to try and get them cards too.

Within 2 weeks I had 5 of us covered and in 6 all 9 of us had 3080s.

I stopped after that and left things be but with the 3080ti launch I knew I would like to have it and had a friend who was adament about getting a 3080 and wanted the ti but he also wanted to mine.

So we made a deal and if I could land a 3080ti he would pay for it and take my 3080 as trade.

Now as of today the 3080ti has arrived and my upgrade is complete.

I haven't spent ANY money in a gpu upgrade since 2017 when I got my sli 1080ti's and had to pay out of pocket some for them off trade for my 980ti sli setup (paid about $400) but my 2080ti upgrade made me $200 and my 3080 upgrade made me $350 so even still overall its not been since like 2015 really since I spent anything on a gpu.

If you played your cards right and at the right time it's been pretty good few years for upgrading your high end stuff.

I get the feeling nVidia now wish they had released the 3080 at $100 or even $200 more looking at how 2070ti and 3080ti are priced.

Maybe they will but the 3080 price up now to better sit in their hierarchy. If they are prepared to weather the enormous backlash.

Finally managed to get a 3070 TI FE a couple of weeks back though paid a £140 over MSRP...yes scammers tax but not as bad as I am seeing as now the prices at at the £900 +++ which is terrible for gamers who just want a decent GPU...And to be honest if we could get the new GPU's at MSRP, this would be a great time for gamers from the 3060 TI, 3070, 3070 TI, 3080, 6600, 6700 XT and 6800.

But at MSRP and even with the $100 additional over the RTX 3070, the 3070 TI is one hell of a GPU, beating the RTX 2080 TI (near on half the price of the launch 2080 TI) and coming close to a 6800 which is an enormous performance increase over the RTX 2070 and even the 2080. Very impressed with the performance on an Ultrawide 1440p monitor as it just crushes games..

Now if I was into conspiracy theories, maybe Nvidia and even AMD think they launched the new GPU's from everything up to the 3080 and 6800 at too low a price and are now artificially increasing prices through the AIB's as the AIB models MSRP's are absurdly priced..

SKU AIB price AMD MSRP Difference
AORUS Radeon RX 6800 XT Master Type C 16G Gigabyte MSRP US$899 AMD MSRP US$649 Difference US$250
Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming OC 16G Gigabyte MSRP US$849 AMD MSRP US$649 Difference US$200
AORUS Radeon RX 6800 Master 16G Gigabyte MSRP US$719 AMD MSRP US$579 Difference US$140
