This is precisely the type of game Nvidia would sponsor. Not necessarily for the RT effects but for the killer GPU requirements to run it satisfactorily. This is what pushes people towards GPU upgrades.

I don't know. I just looked at the image, and saw what I would expect to see in similar conditions. Not only that, but the subtleties of light in a dark room can't be that easy to recreate, and that looked pretty much spot on to me.

The other side of the paradigm being, expensive hardware is leading developers to not implement newer tech with the same ferocity as in the past.

Perhaps that's the other side of new tech in its infancy, mixed results due to implementation and the constraints posed by ubiquitous older hardware.

In there you can see that objects cast shadows on other objects even with RT off.
Issue they have is absence of dynamic range. They have no eye adaptation in place, that's likely cause of so many black areas.
They shown damn dark room which got direct sunlight through one window. In reality that's what you get in most of homes today during day. Their RT-AO is really badly implemented.

As for UE4... at least we can play and explore it... (I mean guys with compatible GPUs.)

Ray tracing can not be badly implemented.

When it is implemented, it has to use models based purely on physics. However, if you see discrepancies, it must be because ray tracing is not being implemented.

That right there is the difference between emulation and ray tracing.

not me not for this game! I'm on stand by regardin RVII and see how it matures, but definitly I'll not spend the money to upgrade for this game.

RTX on almost looks like HDR on, not much difference really.

Vega 56 at the level of GTX 1080 :D
    Very nice :)

No. I meant some hypothetical bright patch.

    I wish I had the time to be a ground/image inspector :D

Hope this is stupid of me to say but would it be crazy if image quality was gimped to favour image quality with RTX on ? Hmm

all we need now is crackers getting rid of Denuvo and we can start playing on yesterday's GPUs.

Perhaps they decided having Advanced Physx and Hairworks on was a good idea.

Ignoring that review might be the best option, unless we can somehow show the effect of each setting is proportional in every scene for every card.

Yes, TPUs numbers seem too optimistic for a Metro title in 2019.

OK, I understand the difference between G3Ds vs TPUs benches. Hilbert used the games inbuilt benchmark option, which is harder on the results (but should be more accurate as it covers both the tough and light parts of the game). TPU tested actual game in play, which is a poor indicator of the ups and downs in performance. They seem to have tested just the easy parts.

I just read that in the comments too, and was going to say the same thing.

Why not use the setting that people can use for comparison? Also, why have those two settings on when pretty much all reviewers have them off?

    Pretty poor showing by TPU.

The built in benchmark produces worse performance than actual gameplay.

It's not a mix of "tough and light" parts. It simply produces worse performance than what you get while playing the game. TPU results are closer to what you'll see in real world.

Is it? You cant know unless they benched the whole game from start to finish. If they just tested a 5 min snapshot of the game, which may not have included demanding elements, but another part of the game has much worse performance, then obviously TPU is not presenting the whole performance story.
