Ouch. And tests were not even done at ultra, because performance would be even lower.

Yep. If you're expecting an RTS, you'll get surprised for sure :p

Was this review done after the 23GB Patch release ?

Wasn't that for PS4? But regardless, yes, I bought and loaded the game today (this afternoon).

Yeah the game is very demanding at the moment. I manage to have very playable FPS (around 80 FPS average) by lowering shadows, post processing and shaders to high. Everything else is on Ultra and maxed sliders... but then again I have a 1080Ti. I have a feeling we'll get performance improvements with time though, and likely there are some tweaks to be done still. Until then it's playable, not ideal, but playable (especially if you have g-sync/freesync). :)

This might be an interesting game. I'll have to keep this in mind possibly later this year. Looks like my dusty old 390 could handle this with lowered settings, based on this review.

    Looks kinda indy, doesn't it?
Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the models could use some tessellation

    Corrected now.
I was like: hmmm... is there another meaning of RTS. Must be. Damn, I'm getting old

Well, it's normal it looks indy, the game costed 5 Million, while skyrim costed 85 Million.
All the development of the game was done without a publisher and only with the kickstarter's money.
Only in the end they joined with Deep Silver, they said it was to distribute the physical copies, but could have been something else too.

    OK, I got that.

But take those numbers with a pinch of salt. For example is marketing cost included for Skyrim? And OTOH if KKD development has started 6-7 years ago, they proly blew more than 5M.
IMHO 85 vs 5M is proly skewed.

Not that it matters, because the game is 50 euros, so... who cares what they spent, right

I'm itching to dive in and see how SLI works, but if I do I may not surface for 2 weeks, so my wife might prefer I wait until after the 14'th..... :p

Runs acceptable even on ultra + maxed draw distances and LODs, but it freezes sometimes for few seconds, and what i read it's bugged anyway, so i will wait as always for few patches.

What res are you playing at? I feel i might need to use my 1440p screen (on 1080Ti) for this game rather than my 4k one, until performance improves.

1440p. I have a strong feeling that the performance will improve a lot with patches though, because the frame drops are inconsistent. For example I had drops in 50s in visually unimpressive places like dark cellars and 100+ fps outside with loads of vegetation.

Alright, now I know I'll definitely wait until it hits a sizable discount. As a consumer I need to do something to send a signal to the studios to get with the times.

Thanks a lot for these results! I was very interested in benchmarks like this. We already know about strange CPU spikes in different subsystems that we want to shave off in future patches, so the gameplay should be much smoother. Especially on slower CPUs and consoles.
