Actually I just corrected pricing, the pre-order was like way over the top. prices settle at € 629,- / 599 USD.

I must have a bad sample. The cooler was anywhere from silent. I found it to be incredibly noisy, even with a more decent fan profile.

Also, the temperatures were nowhere near the results in this test. When I ran a 100% load scenario for half an hour, the temps would stabilize at around 76°C. And then the fan would be clearly audible @60-70%.

If I would lower the fan speeds, temps would rise FAST and if I'd get an higher fan speeds (90-100%) the temps would drop to very decent levels again, so it wasn't that the cooler wasn't making contact. But the pc would lift of the ground because of the jet engine that was in it.

There's an Arctic accelero III on it now, even though I had to remove the extra hdmi slot at the back to make it fit. Now it's truly silent and temps stay below 64°C at all times (can't recommend anyone from going this route btw! Because I had to remove the hdmi port, my warranty is probably as void as void can be....)

At this price 1080 doesn't make sense any more, unless it costs around $400. For $80 more one can get Ti version.

Or get a new 1080Ti for 625 gigabyte OC edition off of ebay.

I don't think the 1080 makes much sense at the moment in general if I'm honest, you can get some fantastic deals on 1080ti's at the moment. I'd either save money by getting a 1070 or spring the extra for the 1080ti. At least when buying new, there's probably some decent deals on second hand 1080's knocking around as I know a lot of people have upgraded to 1080ti's.

Nice review. Any tips on how to actually get Gears of War 4 to launch ? I bought it the other day during the MS Store sale for $30 but it won't launch. Downloaded it twice at 125.7GB a time. Running creator's update with all other updates and tried all the "fixes" that I've found with no help. Upon attempted launch, it uses the cpu for a few seconds at the splash screen and sticks there. I'm gonna do a fresh install of anniversary update this weekend and try different drivers. People say that both the creator's update and the April title update have messed things up while some have had no problems at all. Any help would be appreciated

You might be right. This card is kind of close to the lower end(lol) ti's when it comes to price. I don't know how far apart they are performance wise though.
