If it does end up only 10% faster than the 3080, it's not really a good buy.

I wish all cards which were up for review would end up in the comparison charts for noise & temps.

Well that's another reason then to not buy a 3080 for now. Why would anyone buy one if theres like 5 of 20+ models out and reviewed. People may end up with the bottom tier cards lol.

    I put mine on preorder.
Bear in mind the Asus TUF leads the pack and the top tier Asus should be better.
Reviews will appear before I get it so plenty of time to cancel.
If it is a great card I dont have to wait until well past the launch of CP2077 in a longer queue to get one, my bases are covered.

Agreed. I'll asked my vendor to put one on hold for me. Guess i listen to what i intentionally wanted and that's the top tier ASUS one.

Just ordered an extra corsair PCI-e 8pins cable, couldn't find where i stored my old one 5 years ago.
Those cables cost 30$ per unit

Very impressive but the 10GB gives me pause. I think I'll wait to see if RDNA2 is good or if it forces Nvidia's hand.

You should wait even if it was 20GB.

Future proof is just a term used to mean a card that can hold it's own for at least 4 years and if you're lucky 5 or more years.

Most new XX80 series Nvidia gfx cards will give you that. My GTX 980 is still going fine especially at 1080p but struggles slightly with 1440p.

So the 980 lasted me 6 years+ so far but i'm now in desperate need of an upgrade. Still i got the card around Xmas 2014 and still it bangs out 75fps on my 75hz monitors.

All depends on what you are personally aiming for. Maybe what i said is wrong if you are talking about upgrading to higher res monitors than 1440p. For me i'm happy with a 24" 1080p and my main 1440p 27" monitor both are 75hz which is a Hz i really like.

And yet you can find posts when the 980 launched that 4GB wasn't enough, it should have had 6/8GB.

I think it really depends on the use case. I've had a 1440p 144hz monitor for 5 years now and with no real improvements on the horizon, I don't plan on doing 4K anytime soon, unless LG sneaks a 27-36" OLED out. Couple that with me mostly upgrading every single generation, I don't know if I care for more than 10GB of VRAM. By the time it matters I'd have sold the 3080 and have a next generation card.

We are talking about 4k resolution, and with the new console generation launching virtually now, focusing solely on asset quality and asset streaming, yet people keep downplaying the VRAM amount that will be obviously needed. Or will say something completely stupid like "iT WiLL bE sLOw WHen tHe VrAM wILL MattER". While the raw spec of the 3080 and above should last anyone the whole new console generation, at a minimum console settings.

Ofcourse people are downplaying the vram requirements, cause those people live in reality, with historical information that proves it wrong, and have been dealing with people claiming its never enough every single generation, and its never true.

Yet....do those same people ever realize what they say is incorrect? Well....your post states it all.

At this pace i wonder if people will manage to get 30XX serie in 2020, if so at what price ?

Stores had launch prices but with such a pressure from demand the prices are all gonna go up inevitably.

700->900$ 3080 if not more.

I tend to agree that 10 GB of VRAM should suffice for near future at 4K, and before it becomes a problem other things are likely to happen that would remove any advantage of having more VRAM.
