Miners buy 5700XT is stupid to buy 2080Ti.
5700XT at full blast, not the 150W profile, is cheaper (can get 4 5700XT over 1 2080Ti) and more powerful especially on Etherium per card. (around 95MH)

4 5700XT at full blast give around $1200 a month. 2080Ti cannot even do $200.

I find it amazing anyone is trying to complain about the performance of this card, complaining its not good enough....literally no one should be unhappy that a $700 card is besting a previous generation $1000-1200 card more often then not at high amounts. This isn't a 1080p card, if you use 1080p, get a 3070 or lower. It isnt the cards fault that 1080p is becoming a bottleneck.

Some of y'all are just showing your "incapable of being happy" of "fanboyism" real hard right now.

Talk for your stores. For me here, price tag isn't so different from previous generation. 3090 is cheaper than titan rtx but more expensive than 2080ti. 3080 is cheaper than 2080ti but more expensive than 2080 super. So, I wanted at least more vram, I have the right to demand.

hmm, so had a look at the review, and hmmm

Not all too impressed by power efficiency.

27% increase in power draw, with a 31% increase in performance. Almost no gain in efficiency.

So this does not seem meme worthy.

    Meme denied.

    Rofl...

You quoted someone that said "Don't confuse efficiency with economy. Just because the 3080 is power-hungry, that doesn't mean it isn't efficient, because it very much is."

Then you say "Is as efficient as the 2080Ti. So not at all.

Then you proceed to link an article that shows it more efficient than the 2080Ti, literally disproving what you just wrote.. on top of that it's more efficient than any other cards they tested...

At this point I have to assume you're either trolling or need to see a doctor. I think this is the third time you disproved your own statements with articles you link.

So you wanted something that doesnt affect you? Cool.... You obviously fall into the category of "incapable of being happy".

Its not bad but I'm not that excited about the 3080. Its 100 more watts power draw than the 2080 Ti for a minimum of +30% more FPS if not using DLSS.

Second the 1080 Ti was $699 and that was without much competition from AMD. All Nvidia did is revert pricing back to normalcy which isn't a bad thing but its not the great deal others are making out to be either.

The 3080 is certainly a better deal than the last generation but I don't feel like its going to curb stomp AMD so I am waiting to see what AMD has in store.

The 2080ti draws around 300-330w, just a fyi.

If you look at how Hilbert tested its 266 for the 2080 TI vs 338 watts for the 3080 when gaming. It was 235 vs 325 watts from gaming nexus when comparing at stock clocks. The OC watts are more in line with what you said.

All HU did was to offer 4k benches that differed radically from other more credible sites. Of course the 3080 should beat the 2080 by at least 50% no issue there. Just that his numbers of the RVII and 1080ti which he used to conclude as 'proof' that 8gb is not enough for for Doom E 4k goes against all other sites results. Funny you choose to ignore multiple sites results and stick to one lonely aberration of a result because it fits in to your biases.

Here's a question i dont think many people are asking or putting into their equations of efficiency or wattage useage.

When the card is bottlenecked and showing lower increase in performance, is it still using the higher amount of wattage to do it? Or is it using the max wattage more often then not when its actually performing really high?

Every reviewer is praising how efficient this design is. So the fact that random people on the internet keep trying to state otherwise or complain....doesn't make sense. If you want a lower wattage card there will be lower wattage cards...and you are likely not one looking for highest end either...

I wanted a little more performance than the 3080 delivered at about the same wattage as the 2080 Ti. I guess I'm greedy.

EDIT: Also what I think most didn't notice on average you get a bit over 30% more FPS over the 2080 TI for about 30% more power draw. I don't know about everyone else but this doesn't make me very excited. It certainly leaves the door open for AMD so I wait to see what they release.

For $700, it's a beast. But if you're all about 4k gaming and spent $1200 on a 2080ti, then you should probably wait for the 3090.

For 4k gaming... i would wait for the super/ti. 10gb might end up being "not enough".

The RTX 3080 looks like being a superb upgrade for 1080 Ti and 2080 owners (since both cards perform very similarly for rasterization) but is far less so for 2080 Ti owners (kind of feel a bit sorry for those owners who put their cards up for sale on eBay following NVIDIA claims).

I do want one because I feel the time is now right to buy into raytracing and DLSS now the next-gen consoles are almost out. The only thing that bothers me is that 10 GB of VRAM (vs. 11 GB on my 1080 Ti) and the fact that the 3080 Ti or 3080 20 GB model will undoubtedly be released next year at, my guess, nearer £1,000. I'm also still on a 4770K and gaming at 1440p on maxed out settings. I will be upgrading my PC to a Ryzen 4000 CPU next year but installing a new GPU, even if it isn't able to perform at its best, is still a more enticing option that building an entirely new PC that will cost a lot more than £649. I'd prefer to buy the GPU now and build the rest of the PC later once Zen 3 is out.

Chances are if I want one I will have to wait anyway so in a way not being able to get one now might actually be a good thing as it gives me more time to calm down and get over the hype to digest everything properly.

I can tell you you'll be pleasantly surprised at the gains on just CPU/RAM/NVME alone...

I literally just built a new machine and put my previous graphics card in it and holy moly did it add some life to it in some games (specifically Flight Simulator 2020).

Just a simple EVGA Geforce GTX 1070.

    BEFORE:
    Core i7-3280
    16GB DDR3
Run of the mill SSD on SATA

    AFTER:
    Ryzen 9 3900
    32GB DDR4 3600
    Corsair Force MP600 Gen4 NVME

Able to play on 3440x1440p on HIGH and hold a respectable 30-32 FPS even flying over NYC with occasional dip to 26 FPS with heavy clouds.

The before rig it would barely even load and sometimes crash and hit 20s with occasional 30s at only medium settings.

If I can get a 3080 tomorrow I'd be selling mine for £300 with an EK block.

I posted on another group that I was selling for £300 and people pretty much just had a laugh at the £1000 gpu being sold at £300.
But I really don't care, I got it for £950 the day before they launched Its driver my UW monitor, A 1440p 165hz monitor and done me great for VR.
I've had my fun, I'll get a bump in fps with the 3080 and someone gets a 2080ti nice and cheap, I see that as a win all round.

But the pc community can be so petty sometimes.

Yeah, some people just want to complain.

And it is curious that most of the complains come from AMD users that are not even interested in buying an Nvidia card. They end up buying anything AMD launches in a few months, good or bad.

I'm sure that if this card was called Radeon RTX 3080, they were here praising its beautiful performance for a $700 card.

I'm just curious about those people's opinion about the power consumption who in the old days made fun of the 290X or 390X, or even the 480 or Vega cards. What do they say now about the extra 90W power it needs compared to the 2080 or the efficiency increase compared to the 2080 vs. 1080 to the 980?

And BTW do I remember well that Huang said 3080=2x2080?
