It is time to review and benchmark the actual higher-end graphics card, say hello to the desirable GeForce RTX 3070. Armed with a shader core count of 5888 units this card is paired with 8 GB of GDDR6 graphics memory.

I wonder why the Witcher is such a powerful title for the 2080 Ti compared to every other title in the line up. Strange :)

Well performing card - hope to see it actually in sales and at a close price to the MSRP.

Yeah, I re-did that test multiple times to verify the results but the Witcher is the one exception it seems. No clue just yet.

WOW... I did not expect THAT. Because Nvidia said "same" as 2080Ti, so I fully expected 5-10% lower than that. AT LAUNCH at least.
This is literally 2080 Ti performance or a tad higher.

    Me neither. whas going on

I am also surprised to see this as well. Considering it is less than 2 days from launch.

Very good performance. I am thinking of getting either a 3070 or a 3060 Ti.

The Witcher must just utilize the memory bus better as thats where the 3070 is going to be worse than the 2080ti

2080ti like performance is expected. Now lets see if anyone can find one.

Here Witcher III is only barely faster on RTX 2080Ti.

Hilbert: link removed let's not make this thread a spamfest of links please, thanks. Likely WIII is scene related.

This is what basically happens when you max out everything in 4k and Doom eternal is the worst case scenario where 8gb vram isnt enough.

Got to be bandwidth surely, with a 256bit bus it's about the only thing that makes sense.

Good card though, if you can get one!

Also I think the vRAM buffer also plays a part in this as well because the 3070 has only 8GB vs 11GB for the 2080 Ti

Just odd if the Witcher 3 is the only title that is memory bandwidth sensitive.
Let's not make those 8 vs 10 vs 20gb conspiracies the norm. How does that explain the lack of such massive gaps between other cards with lower amounts of vram?
Further, Gamers Nexus made this https://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/1949-witcher-3-texture-quality-comparison-vram-and-fps where you see no impact in performance based on texture quality, which would make some amount of sense that there would be a difference if it was performant impactful - certainly speedwise.

DLSS is very promising. Hopefully the cards will be purchasable

Actually Fender178 could have something there, a lot of textures to load up in Witcher maybe?

Same memory config, same bandwidth as 2070 Super, but cca 35-40% faster. Should I be impressed, or does 2070S come with too much bandwidth?

Got a feeling 6800 is gonna slap this around. It's less than 5% faster than the 2080ti in 1440p and 4k and only has 8GB.

I must say, that is impressive. This will definitely be a very desirable card and the 8gb vram doesn't seem to be an issue at all.
