We review the GeForce GTX Titan Black. Nvidia's Board partners are slowly re-releasing this originally Professional market product as a consumer gaming graphics card, as well as Nvidia who is plugg...

Good card, overpriced though. Might as well go with a 780 Ti or an R290X then this.

Not if you need more than 3gb vram.

No point in a Titan unless you need DP to be honest.
    Thanks for the review HH.

I would not even dare to OC it as HH had it on open bench and that IR photo was scary.
Yes, 90C is apparently standard, 110C for VRAM is apparently OK.
But I am happy that my card lasts long after I give it away And with such working temperatures that may not be the case.

    Very well done review anyway.

Nice review, I was wondering if/when you were going to cover them :)

There is definitely chance of a little extra OC headroom - I've managed to get a pair in SLI stable at +180MHz on the core and +320Hz on the memory. To be fair this is as far as I would want to go on air, and isn't a 24/7 overclock, but they are damn quick.

The price gap versus the 780 Ti is substantial, but the additional VRAM is likely to become important as the average screen size/resolution increases. Even on current games I've been seeing over 3GB usage on occasion.

If you're paying that much for a card it's only right to water cool it.

I would still rather get GTX 780 6GB in that scenario. GTX 780 can keep up with the 6GB Vram just fine, and is much cheaper.

OC it and you have a stock 780 Ti or slightly faster.

Pff, I hope this doesn't happen to me in the 4GB vs 2GB thread, I wouldn't survive it xD

    Very nice review. Thank you.
Now I am even more glad that I got 780 Ti. I am gaming at 1080p and 3Gb is more than enough. Three hundred more for extra 3GB I think it not worth it.

I sure am glad you didn't review these cards earlier.
I like my pair of Blacks just fine, regardless of the cost.

I think that the original Titans would be the better choice, though.
They're fairly cheap now and do OC better than their new brothers.
I have a pair of water blocks waiting to be installed when X99 arrives.
Until then, they're barely noticeable as far as temp and noise goes.
Except for the rather tacky looking "GEFORCE GTX" in neon green atop these cards.
Luckily, those ugly lights go when the blocks are attached.
Another completely excellent review Hilbert. Thanks!
BTW, no Guru3D rating or recommendation? At all?
    Not even for future-proofing? Weird!

I'm a little hesitant with reference samples and awards etc. So unless a reference product price perf wise blows my mind, I try to restrict that a bit.

Rest assured though, I have another Titan Black review pending, this round non reference, factory overclocked and custom cooled ;)

I was just about to buy one of these today, the Gigabyte version that come with the Windforce cooler.
What lets it down is the lack of a backplate.
I'm guessing it would help passively cooling the rear VRAM.

eVGA has one, but they don't have any available at the moment.

I ended up just going with the eVGA GTX780ti Classified, I am only 1080p gaming.
