This is doesn't have much to do with the review but... Any chance for coil whine testing in the future? Manufacturers don't care **** if reviewers don't say anything. I wouldn't give recommended badges to cards that have coil whine (instead I would slap fail badge). I guess that could eventually make manufacturers to improve their quality control.
Looks like a nice card, and the vrm temps seem to be nicely in check. my MSI Gaming boosts to 1342 out the box though, making it faster, also I wonder if this particular sample overclocks past 1406? because that's pretty poor.
Dear Hilbert, very nice review. Could you possibly review R290x CFX? I'm dying to see what the frame time looks like compared to nvidia with current drivers.
No this was the maximum. It's always a bit of a lucky draw, some cards can get a little more out of them, some go 'hell no bro'.
The most recent FCAT framtime tests have been posted in the Titan-Z review. That was with a 295x2 though. Overall AMD really improved on that. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx_titan_z_review,24.html
I just registered because I had to say this: You need a simple and clear way of showing the temperatures. Then you can go on with the cryptic (for me) details and pictures, otherwise lazy people like me will just look for another review to read the temps.
I am sorry, but if you actually bothered to actually read and check the review you would have noticed that the page prior to thermal imaging is showing exactly that in a nice chart. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/galax_geforce_gtx_970_exoc_review,8.html Would have taken you a lot less time to do opposed to registering and posting on the forums for just that.
Dear Hilbert, why don't you dissect the cards and show how the inner components, like memchips and VRMs are being cooled? From the side it seems that the VRM has its own heatsink, but how are the memory chips being cooled?
Thank you for reviewing the Galax card. As you know, you are one of the only sites to do FLIR imaging. It is an amazing asset and is much appreciated
because of this review i picked this card now on sale around 300$ in my country. mine boost around 1500mhz and the temp is around 63-64 degrees max on witcher which is a very demanding game. note that here in philippines is hot and humid and no aircondition. i save 100$ for not choosing msi asus or gigabyte. thanks for this helpful review
