Review: Corsair K70 PRO RGB keyboard

DOA. FN key instead of Win key. Unusable with right hand Win shortcuts. Previous K70 and Strafe didn't have FN key for good. Unless they offer an option to turn it back to Win. I use both Win and Menu very often. May be then would be a good successor to Logitech G810.

Double floor Enter would be better though. Logitech was listening and did it double floor Enter and ditched short Shift. But they are not willing to make a successor to G810.

 

As a Corsair K55 RGB PRO owner all I can tell is the iCUE is terrible, no to mention the drive space this nearly 'useless' application eats up.
The keyboard itself is very good, but Corsair has to work on the iCUE a lot more.

 

I also have a K55 and I like it as well. Got it for $20 as a refurb. Never thought of using the software so I don't have that problem. the RGB is nice(my whole PC is that way not lol)

 

You can easily remap it back to right windows key, I did the same on the K100.

 

I don't find iCUE intrusive at all but I'm a light user.

Unfortunately this isn't just Corsair, it goes with most peripherals today which insist on having stupid software installed. I've got Corsair iCUE for Keyboard and fans, Razer Synapse for mouse and speakers, G.Skill app for RAM RGB control, MSI Dragon for GFX and Gigabyte app for mobo. I don't use the RAM/mobo/GFX apps anymore but it's really amazing how the situation looks today.

 

As a K70 LUX user (with Cherry Reds) for the past 5 years I would stay far away from Corsair keyboards. A good mechanical keyboard should have the following things: good quality stabilizers to factor out rattle, factory lubed switches and stabilizers, some foam inside the casing to dampen any metallic clack noise and so on. The keys feel awful on them, the spring ping is insanely high, it's neither good for typing nor gaming. Unless you want a keyboard which will fatigue your fingers and you will show the RGB to your 2 year old kid, please invest behind an actually quality keyboard from a manufacturer who actually knows how to make a keyboard.

 

i bought the Asus ROG strafe kb for two reasons - 1) it has a metal volume roller like the Corsair, and 2) the rgb (when used) is run by Aura Sync on the laptop.

but i'm not terribly happy with it. i wanted mx brown and i got mx red (only available at the time) so i'm getting a lot more clickety clack than i like. also the macro functions are non-intuitive (or mebbe i'm just used to Corsair).
i use the strafe with my laptop for work and gaming. looking to buy a new one for my desktop to replace my aged logitech.
thinking about this one, but iCue is well remembered and very disliked. i do want an rgb kb because of typing in the semi-dark...rgb makes it easier to find a color to make the keys stand out more than white/ red/ blue.

 

The best keyboard I've used by far is the Steelseries Apex Pro with hall effect switches, love it.
The software isnt bad either and you can control many features with its onboard OLED display.
The RGB LEDs are very nice, the upper and lower parts of each key are well lit.
Pre-travel is programmable from the OLED as well as via software, setting this made quite a difference to my typing speed and comfort.
I like the feel of the keys much better than Corsair keyboards, just that little bit more comfy for extended gaming.

I also have the Corsair K100 which is way louder, heavier, larger and not so quick/easy to type on.
The K100 keys clack heavily on the up/down endstops, the key caps are noisier with a deeper sound.
The 1.1mm pre travel trigger point is too little imo, its too easy to accidentally press wrong keys.
Corsair for the most part avoided lighting the lower part of keys by putting all legends at the top of each key. Except on the numeric keypad where you cannot read the lower legends, they get almost no light!

RTings has the K100 reviewed just a little better than the Apex Pro, I disagree.

I picked-up a brand new Corsair K55 RGB keyboard a few a years ago at the computers show for $20. No sales tax! But seeing here that people will pay up to USD$170 for a newer version is hard to swallow for a man on the street like me. The good news is that my K55 is still ticking along and only a few keys keep on sticking. Going back to the computer show this weekend and know already that there will be no keyboards over $35 on sale. Welcome to reality!

 

Iv had the Corsair K70 Mk2 (cherry brown) for a while now, best keyboard iv ever owned, always cheaped out before buying those £30 ones from ebay lol, got the corsair k70 mk2 for about £114

As for icue i dont have any issues with it, seems simple to use for me and does what i wanted for lighting effects,
things like my Asus motherboard (Z390-f) i just use the built in settings that are in the bios to fix it to a static color,
same with my Asus monitor (PG259QN), set to staic color, tbh you can do that with the corsair keyboard and mouse too, you could setup the hardware lighting then uninstall the icue software if all the background stuff bothers anyone

 

Anyone with the Corsair have any issues with the SPACEBAR? I have the K55 that looks like this that I got a few months back the SPACEBAR gets stuck to one side every so often. Got it brand and still love it though.

 

Well…I am surely not a professional nor with a wealthy wallet and who is able to pay more for a higher-end product and as touted here! Having however a ready $170 in my pocket will probably promote me to a professional in an instant and in the eyes of the marketers. Today however I needed gasoline to go to work and finding that at the going rate, I cannot afford nor even think about any type of PC or hardware upgrade. With this I am now essentially looking at (2) two unavailability’s which is plain money and no PC extras or luxuries. Besides I pack my own daily lunches and those have gone up as well by as much as 20%. I have seen better times and days! WTF?

 

right? right now i've been driving 200+ miles each weekend to attend to my aging mother. this last weekend was $120 in gas (which includes using my "rewards" from a supermarket chain for a one time $3.85/gallon...but for only one tank)
