True, but I think eliminating an entire die could make up for the difference in clock speed. I'd gladly sacrifice some peak performance for improved efficiency and increased minimum performance.

Tbh 1440p isn't closer to what gaming these days is. Especially on high level. But anyway it seems Linuses testing the new ryzens were also all on top.

Legit tho I have 3900x and I don't see any point upgrading except maybe for that SAM when I get the 6900xt. But that is about it. As my res is 5120x1440...

What I noticed: stores that did not impose a limit on number of cpu's bought were out of stock in minutes - scalpers hand???
The only stores that have the cpu in stock are the ones that imposed a limit of one cpu per client.
I talked with a friend that works in the supply chain and he told me that 5900X stock is more than enough to meet demand and 5950X is a bit short but the stock will be more than enough by the end of this month.

Wut? :D 1080p relies on more CPU power. That means you get less difference as you ramp up resolution. Anyway, check 1080p results at Techpowerup. There is a bit more difference towards Intel models there. Every other sites have AMD lead. Howevery, it's really funny how you say (relying only on the TPU result) 1440p is closer to what gaming is these days. Because until Zen 2, all Intel fanboys were hanging on the FHD results. :D Funny, really.

Whelp that's it boys and girls. AMD in my mind have finally done it, they have beaten Intel now on every front. Gaming was the last stronghold.

The cons.... Goodluck getting your hands on these, they will now be like gold and sell out everywhere! Sadly I am not looking for an upgrade yet but hopefully with the 6000 series if they keep this top game, I will happily swap over.

Intel, you need a new architecture. Sandy bridge was good, but its been 10 years now... stop beating the dead horse.

I'm able to buy 5800X from my shop in Canada right now - they haven't added the listing for 5900X though

I wonder as a gamer if the 5800X might actually beat the 5900X

Jesus Christ  Good f***ing job AMD! It's about time to smash Intel with a style.

    Thanks for the review Hilbert!

Probably because our prices are what they are and anyone with half a brain is trying to buy them elsewhere.

Techpowerup only uses 3200 mhz ram with the ryzen cpu's, which no one with just a bit of knowledge would... unless intentionally wanting to make the 5000 series look bad.

Yes the 5800x has one less chiplet i think. If it's the case I would not be surprised if the 5800x actually is as good for gaming as those.

Curious how long the stock on these is going to be wonky for? I want a 5900 so I can throw my 3900X in my server.
