A number of Youtubers forget to mention Vega tweaking and undervolting. A Radeon VII undervolted can easily be in the realm of 2080 TDP.

But reference is hard to compare to for Turing as there really is no reference clocks anymore I thought.

There are still non-reference 2080s clocked as reference while costing ~$700. But it is not like I would demand that. I would like it if people who deliver mind changing information did that without deceiving their audience.
Really not fair to show some random $700 Radeons VII and GTX 2080s and then bring quite more expensive 2080 without mentioning it.
Actually, price difference is so high that in terms of performance per USD, Radeon VII did win quite a bit.

Video simply was not objective. And it could have been done that way on purpose.

2080 founders is 899$ and better, overclocked, better cooled cards are 699. So, you want him to compare Radeon 7 to more expensive, slower 2080? And it's HIS fault that ALL radeon 7 cards are exactly the same as stock AMD model because AMD told aIB partners: "you cant make custom cooling". Probably his fault that Radeon 7 needs 850W power supply while 2080 needs 600W. Objectively. ;)

PS. I don't like that guy or his channel. He is NOT objective at all and is biased towards AMD most of the time.

Apparently not. I wrote about comparing cards of equal price and that as long as compared 2080 is at $700, I do not care about clock.

Check how much that Aorus Xtreme costs for yourself in your place.

Didnt think he used 2 different 2080s in his test, but you're absolutely right. What a massive fail! He should be called out on that and re-test yet again with the proper card if he cares about his rep.

edit: just checked, the Aorus isnt really far off from the FE, but still valid point. Test cards need to be identical.

Well, I mean sure, you can dislike the (repeated) test. I dislike many benchmarks of cheap components being done on 500$ mobos and 500$ CPUs so what? They are meant to offer some insight, nothing more.

As for checking prices at my place: it's no good. We buy smuggled stuff from Hungary, it's 10~20% cheaper. It's also widespread.

edit: I just checked the aorus xtreme reviews, compared to other 2080's they are not that different in framerates, if at all. So I really don't see how getting a cheaper,s ay, gigabyte would change anything. They perform the same out of the box, there is like 0.5~1% difference.

May I quote you every time someone talks about OC and Turing RTX 2080? MSI RTX 2080 Ventus fos $700 has boost clock 1710MHz, Aorus has boost 1890MHz. (There are RTX 2080 cards with Boost of 1800MHz, but they are not at $700 mark either.)
Everyehere I see multiple RTX 2080 cards in one chart, there are all those OC editions which are not $700 cards. Maybe you meant to say that it is not that much faster than other OC cards. But even wccf managed to see up to 7% difference in between OC cards. Sadly even they ignored $700 RTX underdogs.

Well, I can find a review that I looked at, and post it here (which I avoided since it's not G3D website, but here ). Margins are what I wrote they are. Then they OC the already OC Aorus Xtreme (I think it boosts to ~1910 out of box btw but I can't remember, since I don't really care :p ) And they gain 6~10% more, w/e. but that doesn't mean you can't OC all the other cards too and close that gap. Also, they don't always boost to their max if the driver feels there is no need or w/e

They compare it to 4 other 2080 cards. Be of that kindness and start writing their price tags here. (I already checked 2 of them and they were quite far from $700.)

Why it is so hard to admit that it is inappropriate to say that $800+ card has higher value than $700 card which performs just 8% slower? (While costing 14% more.) Or at least say that they are of equal gaming value.

If $100+ difference means nothing, then I can go and say that I just compared $600 variant of RTX 2070 and it got rough treatment from Radeon VII. As result RTX 2070 is very bad buy and everyone should rather pay additional $100 for Radeon VII. ($100 apparently does not matter to people.)

Btw. that OC part was funny. From now on, Hilbert should OC all nVidia's card and benchmark them against stock AMDs, right? Where did all objectivity go? Lets cheat everywhere we can to make AMD look bad.

That Dude in video had objectivity of Rotten Tomato. No reason to defend his methods in any way.

Dude, I buy used GPUs up to 170~180 eur, anything above that has no value or meaning to me :D
As for the Aussie in the video, I already wrote that I dislike him.

there never was any. It's all point of view.
As for Hilbert, he should first get all cards to work as they should.
