Review: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (reference)

With a GTX280 you arent going to get much of the modern day experience though.

 

GNs teardown was very informative.

So many corners cut on the design, especially for the price.

 

Pull down power limit of card. Maybe it will get stable even with 100Hz.
And if PSU is old, maybe cleaning it can help with possible heat problem due to dust.
(I would not blow compressed air at possibly hot parts while PSU is running. People often do not realize that medium in can is still flammable.)

 

Im on rtx2080 for over 2 years.. With this card DLSS is crap, you cant use it. With good panels not some crappy TN.
Anyone could do an test: dlss ON, make an screenshot, and then dlss OFF. And compare these 2. Choose yourself.

actually i'm objectively surprised at how good this card is. i was (hoping) wanting the 6800xt, but in reality this handles all the games i actually play really well.
i've been scared off of cp2077 what with driver issues and a basically pay-for-beta-testing type of game but now i'm editorializing.
so if this card reference or aib is actually available i'll pull the trigger as i've been putting off a new build since the ryzen 5900x came out.
but even more importantly this is a killer gpu at the "price point", and the mobile version will kick much ass and keep a section of enthusiasts from consoles.

 

The 3070 also beats the 6700XT in every game in every resolution, other than AC: Valhalla according to this review.
The 3070 has also been out for 5 months so for AMD to come out with an inferior GPU now will feel more disappointing.

6700xt doesn't beat 2080ti anywhere,see post 33
5-15% difference on average
whereas 3070 is at least matching 2080ti or it's faster

 

Yeah cleaned the PSU out about 9 months ago or so and surprisingly it was not all that dusty i do have a dust filter in front of it to reduce dust intake further. It is like 12 years old now so i guess it has run it's course really.

 

The numbers doesn't add It matches or beats 2080ti at 1080p , 6700XT is 1080p ( max 1440p) card.


Actualy fact checked . It is around 3-5% slower on average than 2080ti at 1440p (around 50 game average)

the lenghts you are going to justify that amd released a 3060ti equivalent at higher msrp with no dlss and weaker rt is just hilarious.
especially when none of it matters,complaining about the card recieving a generally lukewarm reception is kinda poinless.it's not a good buy even at msrp.with current situatoin nothing is though.

Not joking , PRICES ASIDE - as we can't control this chaos and means nothing . It is 1080/1440p card that everyone can agree on. Please don't tell me you can play 4k on 6700XT- that is a joke.

 

even the most favorable one on tpu has 2080ti 6.3% faster on average,other sources are in the 7-10% territory,with pcgh using the average of 4 resolutions,including 3440x1440,at 15%.

so your "matching 2080ti" is exactly one review at fhd/qhd resolutions having 2080ti 4% faster.


it is a joke to pick 6700xt for 4K.
3070 not so much - computerbase,tpu,ppc,pcgh - all show from 11 to 19% difference,with 3070 being able to utilize dlss in some games too.
and that is the point.this card should never be close to 3070 in msrp since it's more like a 3060ti.

So yea , it matches 2080ti , and AMD put price too low because all the money goes to distributors and not to AMD . They should put MSRP 700$ and it wouldnt change final price. If someone should make money out of this situation it is actual producer of the hardware.

 

it matches 2080ti same way 3060ti matches it.
like I said,take a look at a big picture.
1440p is the card's forte,and it still isn't faster than 3060ti at almost 3070 msrp.

 

MSI and Gigabyte only charge on their own premium, but normal, founder, or whatever they call are at the same price than in AMD's shop or NVidia's shop, if it is higher then someone want to make money on them
With the new generation of GPU you gain 2 to 5% at max with lot more of electricity eaten, and a minimum of +100 euro on the price.
I really don't know if it is a good deal, for led and more silence... even more when a total waterblock cost around 100 euro too (best solution if you have already a WC in your system).

 

Who CARES about msrp when it doesn't matter. When it will matter amd will drop prices. If msrp ment anything of course 3070 would be much better pick. I wouldn't think for second which card to pick.

If we ware not in this situation 6700xt would be priced more competitively like 450$. Amd knows they can get away with it considering its all sold out and competitior dont have any stock.
