EDIT: From the NeoGaf forum article it looks nearly upscaled instead of truly high-definition and it seems to be targeting 30 frames-per-second as well plus it's using 4:3 aspect ratio and cuts it to scale to 16:9

RE1 on the gamecube was amazing,so I would be happy even it was only upscaled. I hope they see sense and bring RE2 back, too.

    Yeeees!
Don't like what they are doing, though, the non-real 16:9 AR and the framecap.... We'll see...

    Agreed!

    I THINK I JUST DIED!!!

This is my all time favourite game!

The remake on GC was a masterpiece of game making!!

I simply can not wait for this now!!!

I wonder if they will truly use the power of next gen and PC and have an option to either increase the "door loading" or add in new animations for opening the doors and have no loading!??

Great news. Still have fond memories of playing the PS1 and GameCube versions.

Wonder if they'd bundle the original PS1 game with it, also restore the classic music from the PS1 game (or at least make the OST mp3)

    You mean the Tyrant?

Awesome final boss, still to this day the CGI in Resi 1 is amazing stuff. Resi zero improved on it but for the most part it looked a little too bright in zero inho. Resi 1 remake on GC nailed the colour tone perfectly for me.

Playing it at 4K internal native resolution in Dolphin Emulator and it looks stunning even to this day. I can not wait to see what it looks like with all those gorgeous prerendered back grounds reencoded in HD I am hoping for at least full 2K native textures on the PC version!

Sounds like Capcom are staying as faithful to the original by not changing too much. This is good to hear, REmake is still awesome on Dolphin with all the details ramped up. 5.1 surround, revised, optional control scheme and HD'd assets (although I doubt much work will go into them, see their recent "HD" RE4 for reference). Either way, this is fab fab news!!

There wouldn't be any point really as the game used bitmap graphics for the backgrounds with 3D rendered objects and characters overlaid on top. Even if you could get the 3D elements to render at higher resolutions you would still be left with very blocky looking backgrounds that would jar against the sharper 3D models.

Besides, the GameCube remake of the original game is vastly superior to the rather dated original (though its dodgy translations and laugably bad acting are admittedly part of its charm) so I would much rather have that newer game then a upscaled version of the original.

The first fully 3D Resident Evil game was Code: Veronica by the way on the Dreamcast, which just happens to be my favourite game in the franchise.
