Heh, I just saw a lot of comparison screenshots. What a laughable port, no way in hell i'm buying it.
The atmosphere the GC version creates is amazing. It's what made me complete it 4 times. I love it it. Have been looking forward to the PC version for well over a year now, even the constant delays have not put me off. Sadly i have been waiting for nothing. This version may look sharper but it's complete lack of any sort of lighting effect means the game has lost everything that made it so immersive in the first place. It is dire. Sure it plays just as good as it did but without the atmosphere it's just not Resident Evil anymore. Rubbish. Thinking about it now, i shouldn't of been suprised seeing as Capcom have never bothered with PC gamers. All of their ports have been lacklustre but this is joke. They shouldn't of even bothered. Maybe they should take a look at Konami and it's Silent Hill series to see what a small bit of effort can achieve for us PC gamers. I just hope that Stalker will make me smile now:approval:
Yeah, GC's RE4 with post-processing effect (like the "yellowish" filter in NFS: Most Wanted) and the lighting and better shading make the game more atmospheric and more scarier at times. Despite the Gamecube is consider by many as a "kiddy" console and a less powerful machine than, lets say, the ("black-green") Xbox 1, resident evil 4 is one of the best looking game in late 2005. Here's a video review for the GC's Resident Evil 4: http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=6755&type=wmv here's the youtube version of the same review which should load faster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqxsY0pZei8 Watch the lighting, shading, the dark area's in the game and the real "real-time events (similar like those in Sega's ShenMue) are "drawn" in real time/ on the fly, and not some full motion video. Here are two video reviews for the PS2 version of RE4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfGVh1KC6Fk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzMi2dqKfxc Even the video's are in low-res, you still see the better lighting and shading in the console versions, with GC's RE4 being the best version and the PS2 version being the second best with a little toned down graphics and the PS2 version got fake "real time event" in Full Motion Video.
Crap, I kept saying I was gonna DL that and try it out once I got my 8800 GTS, but I totally forgot. Thanks for the unintentional reminder
Check this out. Australia gets the crap version, Europe get's the picked up peices and North America gets the final release version, I think.http://au.gamespot.com/pc/adventure...mode=versions&om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary
But the game isn´t out in Europe or USA yet. So it´s possible that some improvements are made madee the game since Ubisoft, not Capcom is responsible for the release in this two continents.
given Ubisoft's recent track record with PC ports, I think the chances of them doing this one justice are slim.
yeah most likely a patch will be released to fix some issues However even with the recent Devil May Cry 3 patch, it only added some shadows in the cutscenes lol, the annoying slowdown during music, some missing graphic effects, no exit button etc. is still plaguing it.
in other news, it seems that the EU version that will be released by UbiSoft is also missing most of the post process effects present in the GC and PS2 version(not surprising)...found it in the Gfaqs boards
I give up on this game. Might get it later at low price just for collection, shame on Capcom for doing and allowed to do this to RE.
Not really suprised by that. I didn't expect them to radically change the game between countries anyway.
If it would be just a 1:1 port I would have been happy. Now the so called "added" features made it look more bland. The game doesn't look bad, but very bland.
I just tested the eu version and it seems to be same crap graphically as the japanese or whatever release.
^lol, thats fast. the upcoming patch will most likely fix the game anyway, we will just have to wait and see... anyway, i made my own comparison from the PC and PS2 version (both running at 1024x768, resized to 800x600, more details on the link) http://forums.ngemu.com/pc-misc-gam...-conversion-very-good-game-9.html#post1089199
I have it for pc, and i am enjoying it atm, feels weird though, been so used to controlling like a normal fps, feels weird, haven't played a res evil game for years, but once i did, felt like an old friend,(female that would be. Anywayz, i get what your saying about the graphics, yes they are sharper then the gs version, but its lacking a full feel. Basically without knocking the game itself. The graphics are dx7 at best imo. I'd love a real res evil game using Pixel shader 2.3.4 and with some nice looking textures. I'll post some pics. they will be 1024x768 x4 aa and 16x af.
If they never release a patch, I am pretty sure there will be people who will replace all the textures and or do something to fix this game. One of the biggest games to hit pc and they **** it up, i hate UBI and Capcom, it not like this is there first time either,
Didnt post the pics, there are tons already, anyway, game is capped@30fps. But fine for this type of game, smooth. It does look indeed bland compared to the lighting used in the other versions. Which i find perplexing to say the least. But i'll probably still enjoy it. Strange i'm playing Call of juarez, enoying it, Just imagine those graphics in this game, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
