[REQ] Blender HDRI OpenCL support and HIP

Blender still doesn't support HDRI rendering with AMD cards. If someone knows how to program it, please tell.

    Hi there

You need to speak with AMD regarding this or post request over on AMD Dev Central or how it called, they should be able at least update you where or what way goes OpenCL right now

In theory right now if someone is able create CUDA compiler via GPUOpen or Boltzmann Initiative C++ for Blender CUDA then you should be OK and many other people

I would probably ask on other forums, where can help you with yours request

As right now,on AMD you can't use SSS or HDRI plus I think Volumetric and few other features, but good news is possible to run CUDA rendering SW through the cross compiler, have look on news regarding the Octane V3 or 3.1,with them you should be able use AMD GPU or even CPU for rendering, due this,I think if someone create some sort cross-compiler for CUDA for AMD then in theory we can use AMD cards with all above features

    Hope this helps

    Thanks,Jura

Handbrake and Blender are two different programs,Blender is more for making graphic than converting or rendering video

You are not on wrong level, but you are talking about different SW,both are rendering SW,but both render two different things

    Hope this helps

    Thanks,Jura

    Yes, I've consider GPUopen
    http://gpuopen.com/hip-to-be-squared-an-introductory-hip-tutorial/
but I've could spend a lifetime to port CUDA to OpenCl.

Can anything be done via Mantle or Vulcan?
Blender still does not support Vulcan but maybe it will someday.
