Anybody remember VLB interface? I had a Diamond Viper VLB video card. Before PCI and AGP.

    VLB (VESA Local Bus)

Yup, is it the one with the extra long slot and the card which reaches the front of the case, which by the way comes with 486 cpus........

Ahh the best card to play Unreal Tournament GotY. The dawn of compressed textures, I think. Thanks for the images -they brought a tear to my eye.

    This is my roadmap

I started out with a an on board cirus logic graphics chip on my 486 (cant remeber the raphics chip on my 8086 or my 286)

then my pentium system had a S3 Virge I even ordered the extra memory chips for that thing that just popped in the socket like you see s3 virge on a previous post i remember there being a few patches for games that used specific features of the s3

I then got a 3dfx voodoo card to run along side it quake looked amazing with glide

I then upgraded to an apocolypse 3Dx that sucked really in comparison to my next purchase but tomb raider looked sweet the power vr version of tomb raider beat any other version (S3 and 3dfx)

next i bought two voodoo 2 and ran them in sli that was amazing system could play anything at insane res and framrate cost me a fortune think i spent just under £300 on it all (for those days) half life and unreal were pretty sweet on this setup

On my next upgrade i stuck with 3dfx and bought a Voodoo 3 2000 remember playing I think that was about the time of quake 2 and the n64 emulator

My next upgrade was a Geforce 2 mx 440 was never impressed with this card dont rember playing much special on it

As soon as the geforce 4400 came out i got that skiped gf 3 as my mate had one and it wasn't that much faster than my gf 2 mx 440 but one thing i do remeber is thinking how realistic 3dmark looked the virst version to support shaders wow

I then got a geforce fx 5950 that was my next card and played half life 2 on it, its the main reason i got it too bad it turn out to be a flop the fact half life didnt use the full precision of the shader as it wasnt fast enough tct

My next purchase was the 7800 agp version that was my last agp card

wow looking back i have wasted a huge amoun of money of this stuff

here is a pic of the power vr card as i havent noticed one of these in the posts yet

It was faster then ISA video cards. Fast for its time (1994 ish). I remeber having driver issues when I went to Windows 95 though.

Canopus pure3d Voodoo1, with a whopping 6mb's of memory. Wish I still had it but alas I sold it after I upgraded to a Creative 3d Blaster Voodoo 2 with like 12mb's of memory iirc.

Yup. Very long card. I had this in my AMD 5x86 120mhz computer (basically a 486 computer but competed with the mighty Pentium 90mhz).

This is my second ever GPU I believe... an Nvidia TnT2 32mb! My First was a Voodoo 2 12mb, which I no longer have! The TNT is still going strong and is often used to test mobo's etc!
