^^ that dual GPU it´s sweet
ATI Rage2 :
This was my first card. Although mine did have 256MB DDR3 Memory, and it was the DOOM3 edition. Loved this card though I could of got a lot more out of it seen as I did only couple it with a single core Intel Celeron 2.66GHz CPU which was a big mistake. If I had got an AMD 4000+ CPU this baby would have flew! :nerd:c1:
BFG GeForce 6800 GTOC & e-GeForce 7800 GT CO
You should've read the Rules really.
1. NO HDMI
2. No Dual DVI
3. NO PCIe
Maybe that's the oldest card he's owned. :stewpid:
They dont belong in this thread.
Maybe you should read the rules too
Anyway, heres a couple of cards!! (sorry about quality, taken on my camera phone!)
From left to right:
Rage IIc AGP, Rage IIc PCI, Mach64VT (ATI 264VT)
Who care really about the rules, it's only remembering the old imo. If he feels like it meant something to him, than let him go with it.
P.S. Is this a competition or what?
the 6800 isnt exactly old.
Old (in this thread) refers to the cards of yesteryear.
That voodoo banshee was the best card i ever owned.
The image quality on that card was far beyond its time, Anistropics resembled todays 16x, it was that clear of an image. I i had the Voodoo 3 and Voodoo 5 after that, and only the voodoo 5 came close to it.
I remember playing midtown madness 1 demo, it was beautiful
Not much but
Had an Orchid Righteous but sold it when I bought my Voodoo3 (now somewhere in the loft but I really can't be doing with going up there now!) Probably the most stunning upgrade I ever made to a PC was installing my first 3d card - everything since has been a constant improvement but seeing Tomb Raider (with the revised executable etc) for the first time in 3D still lives with me.
A Diamond Stealth of some form (with memory upgrade!)
Orchid Righteous 3D
Voodoo 3 3500 (forget the manafacturer - black/purple box)
GeForce 440 MX (seemd to run slower than the Voodoo3!)
ATi Radeon 9800SE AIW with unlocked pipes
XFX NVidia 6800GS (unlocked pipes)
XFX NVidia 8800 GTS 320MB
Asus GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II
And just said goodbye to my old Soundblaster AWE 64 Gold - lovely audio card (okay, so my dad had it in his old desktop he just chucked but it was still sad to see it go, again)
had a second Asus GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II (though not the 'TOP' version) in SLI
Now just dropped in a Gainward GTX 970 Phantom and was just wondering what I had been through (when I remembered this post)
OMG! I've just seen my avatar - it's from P.A.W.S. I love that game - got it on my current rig and I believe I got it running (it's a change from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.!)
I remember I had some ancient 32MB NVIDIA card in my Dell Dimension XPS T500. (500Mhz Pentium 3, 128MB PC133, etc.) I think it was a GeForce2 MX or similar.
I use that 6800GT in my wifes box as we type.
Busted these out of my closet for a photo shoot. Can you say SLI?
2x Voodoo2 12MB PCI Cards in SLI. Oh teh framerates!
BFG FX 5500... absolutely loved this card. Was the first card I had with a real working fan.. lol.. all the previous were passive cooling. And it had hardware T&L! heheh. As I remember, it was expensive for its time too! Good times
I had a Nvidia Riva 128 coupled with a Orchid Voodoo 2. Worked wonders in games
my first vga
and the beast ,dunno if this pic is from Helios 3D like mine i got, also cant find a pic from its legendary box with anubis.
my only ATI card..twas very popular (at least in my country) too..
this was during the FX5000 series days when a lot of us (me and my friends) got introduced to ATI..good card for the price
before that I had the
and (what I thought was a high end card at that time)
a Palit Daytona GeForce 4MX 440
after the Radeon, I had a 6600GT then a 7600GT before investing in an 8800GTS 320mb, then an 8800GT then my present card
I still have the boxes of most of these cards back home too :nerd:
I remember playing Privateer and C&C on a Cirrus Logic 1MB video card. That got replaced by a TNT2 32 Ultra and Half Life was a revolutionary game. I played Q3, HL and Homeworld endlessly and that era will never get beaten.
Then I bought a Leadtek GF200, which got killed by someone spilling AS all over it. After that I got the 9800SE with the pipes unlocked. 5700LE was the next card (utter ****e), followed by the 6600GT, 7600GT, 8800GTS 320 and now this.
I don't have pictures as those cards were given or thrown away long ago. But if I get my hands on a TNT2 32 or Cirrus Logic I'm buying them straight away. The card I will never forget is the TNT 2 32 as it heralded the 3D era for me and it was amazing. Though cards nowadays have improved they just can't compare with what I saw over a decade ago.
My first video card: S3 86C805 (1985-1993)
Cool old thread
