Um how did you have a Dual-Core in 2001?

If you had an AMD Dual Core in 2001 you would have broken every 3Dmark record at the time lol. Dual cores didn't hit the market until 2005.

I remember dot matrix printers.. 30 mins to print out a 3 page excel spreadsheet!

Our first real PC was an IBM 386sx in ~1990. like 25mhz!. I remember double clicking the icon for microsoft word, and going downstairs to make a sandwich, then come back up hoping that it had finished loading.

My first computer was a really really old Adam computer made by Coleco. It used metal cassette tapes to store info on, had no HD or floppy drive of any kind, used a little 9 inch screen (didn't come with it, had to buy separately), and also played coleco games (Atari's competitor). It didn't have a OS like Windows, was strictly DOS, but I learned to write some pretty decent programs for it lol! I remember buying Oregon Trails for it at one point, but it would always freeze up on me after about 20 min of playing :(

Thought I'd add this link for people, a little over a 3 Mhz processor lol!

    1/10/2005 - Patriot 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC1G3200+XBLK - Retail $219.50

I never really knew that I spent that much on HW, nowdays whenever I see something in the $300 range its usually overpriced lol.

I think my first computer was a compaq presario circa 96' ish. had a 66mhz processor, 64mb ram, and like a 500mb hd. I think haha.
next pc was an emachine (yuck) celeron maybe 600mhz, 20gb hd, 128mb which was then upgraded to 256 so I could run Windows Me(remember how bad THAT os was?), oh and i could play red alert and diablo on it. That was awesome. I used that to play pretty much 1 game for the next 4 years. An online MMO called Redmoon. Very archaic but better than helbreath and runescape.

Yah the first computer my family owned was a 286 at a blazing 8Mhz / 640Kb Ram and a 20MB Hard Drive! Had some type of CGA Display Card as I remember it having limited color capability. :D LOL

The next ugprade jumped up to a Pentium 75Mhz, 8MB Ram and a 1GB Hard Drive. This PC came with Win 3.11. I upgraded it to Win95 shortly after and added 16MB of Ram. :)

We had weird rules no one could explain, but we all understood how to proceed. Dude, those were the days: I could flick a marble up a kerb back then.

Me too, thats more or less my current download speed  (between 10kbps to 50kbps)

I remember the "Now you can turn off the computer" message.

I remember my cousin playing Civilization or Capitalism.

I remember Windows ME. For gods sake, by then i thought that these kind of errors were common, silly me never tried Windows 98 SE...

You can get it from steam http://store.steampowered.com/sub/964/ there's a complete pack, though if you want X-Com UFO alone you can probably get it from any abandon software pages.
I have played the others, but X-Com Ufo Defence was the best, Terror from the Deep is also very good, because its exactly the same game as UFO Defence but with a different approach.

No dual core CPUs in 2001. Also no one used 2gb of ram those days and 800mhz ram (thats DDR2, not DDR) was not available then. DDR2 was introduced in 2003.

I remember when I got my first "job" and earned $800.. enough to pay for my first desktop (HP Pavilion Media Center). Decent specs but it came with some Klipsch 2.1 speakers to which I'm still using as of today. :grin2:
