The spells are more "tools", they are not intended to be weapons.
Used for environmental puzzle solving, and can yes, add to combat. Stun an enemy with electricity, set a explosive on fire and throw it at an enemy.
But, also keep in mind, this is rather bare bones, it's still a work in progress. :)

As for performance, there's a bug in the build of UE4 the demo runs on that hindered performance. Epic have already fixed this problem, and we are moving to the newest update soon.
But, it wasn't possible to update before the demo release, as updating would cause issues that would need to be fixed before it could release.
But, performance will definitely be improved in future builds.

Sure, it's a demo after all. As I said, it made me interested in seeing more of the game. I'm sure the kinks will be ironed out during further development, 3D Realms recently published quite a few retro shooters that were of high quality, so I'm not afraid. Keep up the good work!

For anyone who missed the demo before...
It's coming back to Steam. From Feb 3rd through Fed 9th.

It's the exact same demo, still a pre-alpha preview of the game as the team continue to work extremely hard.
But, a great chance for anyone who wanted to play it and couldn't to give it a shot.

Yes, we released GRAVEN into early access today!! It's been a super exciting time, and can't wait for people to get a chance to check out the game.
What is in the EA is roughly the first four quests of the game, the first hub, Cruxfirth, and two levels connected to the hub. It's roughly the first 5% of the game.

Between now and the full release we'll be putting out future content updates that expand this hub. New areas, quests, items and monsters. The plan is by the end of the EA players will be able to experience the first 30% of the game.

Anyone who does check it out, if you run into any bugs, crashes... and constructive feedback... please, let me and know and I can pass it on to the team. :)

So I just played the demo for Dread Templar on Steam.
It was really good. Very fast and intense. Some nice metal tune to set the pace.
They say it's comming out in 2021, but I just hope it's not in early acess, but rather the full game.

I don't know, 1C picked up publishing for it.
But, I believe the dev said a while back it would be an Early Access release.

I know a lot of people tend to dislike EA releases, but, they do help smaller devs.

I understand that it helps small devs, but it's bad for the consumer to have to wait for a game they already paid.
And then there is no guarantee the game will be finnished.

I already bough a couple of games in Early Acess, and I'm still waiting for them.

If Dread Templar is released as a full game, I'll buy it day one.
But if it's in EA, I'll just wait until the final release.

    I can understand that.
But, seeing things from the other side... I definitely see the benefits of Early Access.

Ion Fury for example made it to a full scale release thanks to EA. The interest shown, the additional income brought in by it...
All helped get IF developed past just a beta idea and into a full release.
And for some people, like the one guy making HROT, or the two guys making Prodeus... Early Access helps keep things going so they can continue making the game.

With Dread Templar, it's another project made by one guy.
1C Entertainment picking it up definitely helps him out a lot, but going the EA path will secure him more resources as development continues.

Again, I get where you're coming from. And can respect that.

At least they were not bought by EA or Activision.

Actually, Saber Interactive purchased 3DR/Slipgate through Embracer.

And yes, this will be very beneficial.
Embracer is extremely hands off, and allows the studios under it to operate independently.
Just with the added benefit of financial security.

And, Saber will be able to offer additional support and direction on a multitude of projects currently in production. And future ones not started.

I'd like to think you're right. I'd be very sad if 3DRealms got Ravenified/EAd

Trust me, Embracer is the best company that could've bought 3DR.
The team are all extremely excited for this, and what it means for the future. :)

They own a ton of different studios, set up under various larger companies to oversee them.
Saber Interactive oversees 10 or so studios I believe.
With others like Koch Media and THQ Nordic overseeing multiple studios as well.

Sorry I didn't reply, but, pretty much couldn't.

Had to wait for the official announcement during the stream.
Ultimately Wrath has been delayed, it won't be released this year. But, we've worked it out will all companies involved, and will be able to do bi-weekly dev updates to keep fans/consumers in the know of what's happening during development.

A big problem has been communication. Which, has boiled down to three companies involved... and everything having to be approved before it could be put out there.
Which, kept things unfortunately very quiet.
But... got that sorted. Going for a much, much more transparent approach to make sure people know what is going on.

Romain, one of the leads on Wrath, posted about it in great length on his twitter.
