    Interesting.

That just reinforces my decision to buy a 6800 Ultra.

Probably not, but I bet the fanATIcs and nVidiots will be in here soon flaming each other. It should be entertaining for at least a little while. ;)

well on the Anisotropic filtering bits, its the way they do the filtering,

they do partial filtering and they say, not all surfaces need the same amount of filtering depend on light hit, refraction and the angle of the plane

    (plane as in surface)

    yeah,

its all true, cause i actually read alot up on both cards

ATI wasn't quite expecting NV to get PS3.0 out so fast, they were expecting it with the NV50.....

once all the rumours started flying it was too late to change the cards specs

lol jesus so does this mean nvidia took the lead in this next generation lol

edit: oh btw in the Ati forums they say the x800 is being sold for about 400

    yeah it did.....

theres no use benchmarking the 6800 vs the X800 since its 2 different generations of hardware....

the XI800's will be the real competitors

    Well.

I was unsure at first regarding which card to get : x800xt platinum or Gainward's 6800 U Cool FX.

When i'm spending silly amounts of money (which it is !), i'd rather spend it on new tech. I ordered the 6800 u 2 weeks ago and i'm sure glad i did.

And the speeds on the core and memory on this card are right up there with the best XT, not to mention the 'NEW' and superior technology, which if you do a little research, you'll discover how much there actually is.

the only new and supperior tech is in the 6800,

cause its the only card offering a totally new core design,

ati will try and tell you the X800 is a new design, but all it is is a modification with some new features

6800 requires more power than the x800 and has 2 connectors while x800 has only 1

Worried about v3.0 PS and VS when the number of PS2.0 requiring games out at the mo can still be counted with the fingers on both hands...
