So the only source globally reporting this is a single shop? Because as mentioned people are taking a dead GPU to a repair shop rather than RMAing it.

 

The article didn't say but it's possible the GPU's are out of warranty/not covered or RMA was rejected/too expensive. Some other GPU review sites are also commenting about KrisFix (German mail-in repair shop).

 

I wouldn't be surprised if there is some circular reporting here, the YouTuber experts will be jumping all over this next and if they say it then its suddenly a Reddit fact.

Hey everyone been a min since I posted anything here was active on the Vega thread for sometime... anyhow....

Just picked up a AsRock 6950 XT OCF I've started playing around with it on my test bench while I wait for my WB to come in. I haven't really played around with any AMD cards since my Vega64. I've been reading up on the MPT stuff and was wondering if anyone has overclocking experience on these cards or had a reference for some of the limits I should aim for in MPT. Heres where I am as of now.

Core-MIN:2800 MAX:2910 (2855-2860mhz in game.)
Mem- 2400 (2388mhz in game)
1200mv @ 20%PL

Using 100% fan speed to keep cool as possible. (58-62 core 77-82 hot spot)

Looped Heaven, Timespy, Firestrike. No crashes, performance was good except one where got bad screen tearing. So dropped memory alittle.

Started to mess with MPT but not familiar with it. I bumped power up and was getting 2960mhz stable in game but was getting warm on air so I didn't run long. Don't know how high I can go PWR limit wise. Don't want to kill the card I just got but I feel like this card has some room to push on water.

 

almos 3000mhz , you have a really good card, my 6800xt strugles to do more then 2700mhz, On mpt the best setting is the temp dependent, then you can change the voltages, but I only use that to go over the 1.150mv, I have to do 1.250mv . Your card basicly has all you want unlocked already.

 

The 6800xt may be a little different but i found it wasnt hard to push my 6900xt clocks way past 2600mhz but i did notice past that speed the return was not relative to the speed bumps up to 2600mhz as far as performance, heat and power draw. Some games actually performed a little worst, heat and power are not an issue as WCed and power bumped via MPT. so i settles on 2600mhz 9or lower game dependant and a max of 320W.

 

Increase soc limit (65),increase soc max frequency (1400) fclk to 2050,i've seen up to 2400 on 6900xt,huge performance gains.

 

Im already running at 2600mhz, as ive mentioned above it can clock way higher but the realworld improvement in FPS at 4K just isnt worth the extra energy consumption and heat generation. I didnt just pluck the settings out the air, i spent a while testing and tweeking via MPT and in games.

Hi guys!


So i`ve been thinking about getting a 6800xt and i`ve already passed on two or three sales opportunities because of the prices but now a store i know is selling a XFX 6800XT Speedster Merc 319 Core Gaming (very long and very stupid name!) for 610€!


In normal conditions this should be around 500€, at best, but times and prices have changed, so this seems like a (very) good price for this card, specially considering the alternatives...


There`s also a Powercolor 6800xt Red Devil available for 630€ but i prefer the the one from XFX.


And to make matters more complicated for me, the same store has a Saphire Nitro+ 6950XT on sale for 770€!


Now, the my logical side is telling me that if i really want a new GPU, i should simply get the XFX because it`s a very nice card and already costs a lot of money.


But my emotional side can`t stop screaming in my year "Go big or go home!!!"


So, what do you guys thing i should do:


- stay still because my 1080ti is still a very capable card?


- get the 6800xt to make the (upgrading) itch disappear?


- turn off my brain and just get the 6950 because if i`m going to burn money, i might as well do it in style!...

Monitor?

I mean... for 1080/120 or 1080/144 probably the 6800xt is more than enough, no need to go all out. Keep that money for the next upgrade.

If you are on 1440 or 4k.... I would choose the big gun.

 

I have a LG 34 ultrawide with a stock resolution of 2560x1080 but the screen is too big for it`s custom resolution, graphics look a little blocky, so i use Nvidia`s Dynamic Super Resolution to render games at 3440x1443.

Games look much better with the increased resolution, so i want to use the same feature with an AMD card.

Also, the screen has a 144Hz refresh rate.

 

ive got a 6900xt running at 6950xt speeds on a 144mhz VRR 4k monitor and il be honest its pretty stunning for everything upto and including low end RT. Briefly went back to a 4k 60hz monitor and its wasnt fun.

 

Did any you of guys had random robots as a result of too low voltage / unstable OC of gpu clock ?

 

I used to own a 344x1440 panel. My 6800xt ran it extremely well. I had a LG 34 inch 2560x1080 and I know what you are saying about the resolution and being blocky or fuzzy.
