Intel's Desktop and Workstation Platforms Roadmap which covers things like Raptor Lake-S Refresh processors for 2023 desktops as well as Sapphire Rapids-64L/112L CPUs set to address high-end desktops... Raptor Lake Refresh, HEDT Replacement by 2023
The absence of Meteor Lake is very disappointing. So much for my upgrade plans. Good news for Alder Lake owners though, could be an interesting in-socket upgrade for them. Turns out investing in Z690 might have been a very wise choice.
I hope so. I got a cheap lol "$300" vs $500-$600 I usually pay. Stayed with i7. If i were to guess z690 might get skipped but I hope not.
well if the past is any indication intel probably wont do 3 generations for a chipset/socket, even if its a refresh eg what happened with z170 through z370, intel chose to confine coffee-lake to z370 via a pin change to prevent them from booting in older motherboards.... hopefuly things have changed since then.
That's a good point, I completely forgot about Intel's shenanigans there. Hopefully with the PC market in a downturn they will keep Z690 compatibility this time around.
I actually wanted to go Ryzen this time around, but I was worried about early adoption. And we are hearing 7000X3D might be just like 5800X3D. Locked and un overclockable. I also hear about Ryzen having worse 1% lows. Could be true I do not know for sure.
