Got to say I am really enjoying the game. Got it on special offer, steam the other day. The attention to detail in the game is stunning. I quite liked Rage1 but they have really turned on the charm in this one. :)

    Yeah, the DLC released today.
The 18 gig update is DLC files, and a lot of base game file updates.

Haven't tried the DLC yet, but I will be playing it later on.

Rage 2 is super fun. It could do with a little more thought going into the missions, but the mechanics are solid. It's not as tricky as Quake 3 (console port so it could never reach Quake level of complexity for movement) but Rage 2 gives you that sense of acrobatic freedom, not found in the likes of Far Cry or Crysis. About time developers thought about the mechanics over fluff like looks and story.

Where does one buy it? It's not in the bethesda store.

You can only buy it in game, through RAGE 2's in game store.

Ah getting past Valve and Steam and the cut they would take I suppose so that's why I have not been able to find a separate DLC page and the other edition of the game isn't something like a season pass but a few extras and bonuses plus the Bethesda.net account stuff for things like the BFG.

EDIT: Otho total sales versus full profit, I'd say compared to going through the Bethesda launcher or game and setting up payment it would probably have been easier to go via Steam for the PC version but then DLC sales will be less than the main game and if PC or overall sales haven't been exceptional or are mainly from third party legitimate sites such as Greenman or during discount sales then it might be something Bethesda chooses to try.

Well I guess trying Bethesda.net account content ahead of DOOM Eternal up next is also a possibility thinking ahead a bit but I might be bit too cynical.

But it's the game industry even above most if not all the rest of the digital media industry so probably not really that cynical after all although it's not like it's only changed these last few years either but the method and internet and digital distribution has altered the means and methods. :)
(Plus overall growth and revenue and profit to be made from a decade or so back is also quite a different situation as the medium keeps changing and adjusting.)

The graphics look so outdated compared to other games. I just don’t understand the design decisions made for Rage 2.

The cringe humor kills me, and not in a good way.

If they ever make a Rage 3, it needs to be a total reboot with a story.

Might have started as a sequel to Mad Max but then even Rage 1 had some goofy moments although not quite like what Avalanche has with say Just Cause and then Mad Max though I enjoyed what that game was doing but I don't think it sold super well and then the license was not renewed or something like that and instead we got Rage 2 while id Software worked on DOOM Eternal.

And the game is veering a bit into Borderlands type of meme humor and presentation at times even though it's not a loot driven shooter.
(Heh skip some of the immediate story missions and you're actually quite hampered until you hit the arks and without at least the intro for every faction member done you're without those bonuses too some of which are quite nifty.)

Well it's not all out Bulletstorm either I suppose but this is apparently the popular thing now though not all games embrace goofy memes and current slightly reworded political events and such so there's still hope hah.

"Here comes Butterdick Jones and his heavenly asshole machine!"
(It's not porn where the actor has to use a pseudonym name but yeah some voice actor had to do that line.)

Room for both I guess depending on game and such, not everything might work going all grimdark or moody or outright horrific either though trying to be one but having the mood from something entirely different yeah that usually doesn't end up well although some games try but generally flub it.
(Course sometimes the intent is one thing and delivery completely blows it apart and it becomes unintentional humor instead or completely wrong in some other way.)

EDIT: For Mad Max though it kinda nails it although the character names tend to be a bit goofy but the rest just kinda worked whereas Just Cause is a mix of cheese and narm and over the top caricature and humor.

EDIT: And this builds upon Rage 1 but some characters new and returning just feel like a parody such as the Authority now being 99% bunch of not-zombie cyborg mutants and cartoon villain style instead of just cold absolute totalitarian or how to call it.

rage 3 needs a better fleshed out world and deeper characters to interact with.

more varied missions would help but i do not think it was the WORST in that reguard the locations at lest kept shooting things fun for the duration.

go back play borderlands 1 for instance and its almost all repetition in the locations and mission designs are not varied at all, what bl does far better than rage is making characters in the world, they do not have much of any personality outside missions but they feel more fleshed out than most characters in rage who have NOTHING to say outside a mission structure.

so yea rage is immersion breaking mish mash of stuff avalanche doing the missions etc probably did not help since part of the problem with the just cause games is the total lack of well good mission variety good story and good characters. they just do not try since just cause 2 far as i am concerned at lest.

so yea those areas being meh in rage hardly shocking.

RAGE 2 is an open world game. We've only seen ID Tech 6 powering DOOM and Wolfenstein, which are more like corridor games in comparison, and each big firefight being in a locked down arena.

If there is someone who bought the DLC from the ingame store, then please tell me: Can you buy the needed coins in a way that you can buy the "precise" amount of coins? You know, so that you don't in reality pay more than is needed. I'm wary of certain uses of virtual currency.

I had this feeling initially too but I must give Avalanche credit for what they did with Rage 2.

It's a fun shooter in the Rage "universe" that keeps some things from original while adding something of its own in the mix.

Take it for what it is and you'll have fun! Plus id Software did the fps combat / gunplay so it's as good as it gets.

The problem I had with the game overall was that it lacked real soul. It was a good game.. but it definitely felt "corporate" as opposed to something a team put a lot of love into. One of those games you enjoy enough to recommend as a time waster, but eventually move on to completely forget.

The game is one big joke. Quite literally. Only problem is...nobody thinks it's funny. We wanted a serious game with a fleshed out world and characters. It's just your basic boring open world filled with bandits. There's nobody interesting to interact with. It's very disappointing.

Other games like Metro Exodus prove that an open world or hub at least can be very interesting when it's filled with meaningful content. The characters are important.
