so when you get it all you do is right click and select edit and you can read the contents in a text file :)

    thanks for the help

I saw a post in another thread that you can make a game use an older driver version, is this true?
I seem to have a stable ccc 10.5 but crashes in anything later.

    Thank you!

    :(

Yes, without a compatibility driver all selected DLL files will be copied.

It's by design, depending on AA profile it will copy 1 or 2 DLLs, for a D3D game OGL dll won't be copied (should it be?)

DarksidersPC.exe may not exists inside atiumdag.dll nor aticfx32.dll, that's why the files aren't copied, but maybe this behavior must be changed to always copy DLLs files when a compatibility driver is selected.

    I'll test DeadSpace later, thanks.

Can you please post your System32 directory, listing only D3DX*.dll files?

Open a command prompt and type

    cd \Windows\System32
    dir D3DX*.dll >C:\d3dx.txt

Then open C:\d3dx.txt and post its contents here or send it to my email: japamd @ gmail.com

    Thanks.

About the doubled fps, FRAPS seems to use a different way to hook D3D, something like the Stealth mode that RadeonPro will have in a near future. Currently RadeonPro hooks D3D after Steam overlay code as Steam inserts the GameOverlayRenderer.dll in the process during startup so it is executed before any other hooking code. That said RadeonPro must call Steam code to not break the chain, but when the game engine doesn't use D3D Present in an explicit way the FPS counter gets doubled in RadeonPro.

Are you using a 32-bit system? If the DLL is still referenced by explorer.exe and opening a explorer window doesn't release the reference, the only way is a logoff.

OpenGL is still not supported by the OSD code, so FPS, screenshot and other related function aren't available on OpenGL games.

Thanks, that's the info that the program needs:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_689C&SUBSYS_C000174B&REV_00]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_689C&SUBSYS_C000174B&REV_00\6&36fef57d&0&00200018]
    "LocationInformation"="@system32\\drivers\\pci.sys,#65536;PCI bus %1, device %2, function %3;(4,0,0)"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_689C&SUBSYS_C000174B&REV_00\6&6aeb4e4&0&00400018]
    "LocationInformation"="@system32\\drivers\\pci.sys,#65536;PCI bus %1, device %2, function %3;(5,0,0)"

Your registry seems to be ok so I don't understand why the CrossfireX bar isn't working for you :(

Please check if you have atipdlxx.dll in your windows\syswow64 directory (or system32 if you're running a 32-bit OS)

You can in a limited way, it's not an entire driver replacement.

Yep, some of those files are required by the screenshots functions.

    It's the first time I see explorer.exe holding a reference to AppProfiles.dll as it wouldn't be because it's a 64-bit process, and AppProfiles.dll doesn't hook 64-bit processes.

Open your task manager and verify if all the explorer.exe processes are 64-bit images, you may have a virus pretending to be explorer.exe.

Sorry to sound thick but ive always trusted drivers and never tried any of this.
Basically my games (mainly left for dead 2) keep locking up my PC, i need to hit the reset button, seems to be a crossfire problem and it seems to be ok in 10.5 ccc, however the game is not as smooth as in later drivers so i wouldnt mind trying this method, ie, install 10.10 but for left for dead, roll back to 10.5, see if it helps, any help would be appreciated, ive run the MSI Kombustor full AA 1900x1200 and my pc seems stable so im assuming all my problems are driver related.

ok, will do as soon as i get home.

i could only see the appprofiles.dll in process explorer btw, since the taskmanager doesnt show dll's at all. ill check next uninstall/install.

im pretty sure i dont have a virus btw. i have installed windows recently, and i never get them :wanker:

You can try to see if it helps, enable the option in Settings/Advanced tab and click on Manage My Drivers. Download the Catalyst 10.5a driver set and close the drivers dialogs. Create a profile for L4D2, choose Catalyst 10.5a in Advanced tab and check D3D box. Launch the game as usual and see what happens.

    system32 directory is enough, thanks.

    Try Process Explorer (free)
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

Open it and press Ctrl+F. Type AppProfiles.dll and click Search, this will list all processes that are holding a reference to the file.

    WTF???
Deadspace with working AA? How is that possible, and could you post a screenshot please. I always wanted to play it with AA.
So what did you actually do to make it possible? Does it only work with 10.10 installed and renaming the exe to darksidersPC ? Or is it just the exe renaming?

Both. You need 10.10 and CAP 10.9a, rename DeadSpace.exe to DarksidersPC.exe and force AA.

Well forced AA doesn't seem to be working for me with the 10.10 betas + 10.9a CAPs in Dead Space when the executable is renamed to DarksiderPC. Well, the menu boxes look like they now have AA but the game graphics themself still have jaggies, although they no longer appear corrupted like they did before.

@japamd- Incidentally, while messing around with Dead Space, I first created an AA entry for Darksiders with the filename "DarksidersPC.exe" using the Verde skin. However, when I used the New Profile wizard afterwards the new entry didn't show in the list, only the default built-in ones. Post-wizard I went to the Advanced Tweaking > AA and CFX section and the new Darksiders AA compatibility entry was definitely there. A possible bug?

I think it would be best if you have RadeonPro copy the .dlls whenever the respective checkbox (D3D, CFX, OGL) in the profile is checked, no matter what other settings are selected. That way you could use the vanilla compatibility driver file if you don't want to use FSAA and/or CFX compatibility in Tweaks.

AA *is* working in Dead Space for me after all.

I made the mistake of forcing AA through an RP profile that used Dead Space.exe instead of DarksidersPC.exe. It's an improvement for sure but it seems very selective with some edges looking as if they have no AA at all. The AA looks best in lit areas to me and anything with specular edges tends to look as if there's no AA applied at all. Still, a nice find and a welcome one at that as Dead Space was always a nice-looking game even without AA and now it looks even nicer.

Not a bug by itself, but just the Wizard begging for updates :wanker:

Yeah, I think it's better to copy the files when a driver compatibility is set. Already changed it, next build will have the new functionality.

Too bad the game is almost 2 years old and only now we can use AA (in an unofficial way).

Ah, okay. So, is the AA exclusive to crossfire (darksiders crossfire aa profile)? To be honest, I haven't played around much with those aa profiles.

No, it's not limited to Crossfire. Each CAP can contain AA and CFX profiles.

    I'll be online soon.

Hmmm, maybe the ones it's not working are OpenGL Games?
