Watch the whole video and you'll probably have a better understanding of the situation.

Watt(TF)Man reset again with these drivers, hopefully AMD didn't tinker with something in that breaking things for existing utilities, Unwinder would probably be less than pleased though with luck it's something else and not some deeper changes to Overdrive again. :)

No profile changes between this and 17.8.1(b6) so you get a updated profile for Dawn of War 3 and there's game profiles for Agents of Mayhem and Destiny 2 in the file along with some new OpenGL definition or property along with some tweaks here and there.
(Also the Vulkan runtime was updated from 1.0.51.0 to 1.0.54.0 with the current latest runtime being 1.0.57.0)

EDIT: And I see the Frontier drivers for Vega are still struggling a bit.

It shows 1.0.51 for me as well on R9 290. Also for the first time ever the setup crashed when doing an upgrade from a previous version (this time being the beta); had to clean install it.

I checked AMD's driver files and yeah you're correct about that. :)

AMD's Vulkan driver (AMDVLK .dll) does indeed report as version 1.0.51.0 after checking it, the included .\Packages\Apps\Vulkan runtime\ installer was updated to 1.0.54.0 however but it's a separate set of files.

vulkan-1.dll mainly and then the same .dll as vulkan-1-1-0-57-0.dll or whichever version you have installed followed by vulkaninfo.exe and vulkaninfo-1-1-0-57-0.exe which again are both the same file plus a few files in the Program Files folder in a Vulkan sub folder.

In Crimson / CNext it seems to report as Vulkan API version 1.0.51 and Vulkan driver version 1.6.0 so the API definitively go via AMD's files regardless of the runtime installed. :)

    Why is that?
    Finally some good news!
I know you don't have to install their launcher, but it's still bloatware.

@RzrTrek, the installer does not install a launcher. It drops a simple url link on your desktop (bethesda site). Just a headsup bro ;)

Well, I read in the previous driver thread (17.7.2) that there were some issues with UVD/clocks on some early GCN cards (not sure if GCN1.1+ is affected) that would cause major drops in performance. I obviously don't want that =)

The stuck UVD clocks problem affects CGN 1.0 not only on 17.7.2 (and 17.8.1), but on every driver released after 16.7.2 (the last one without the bug).
The CGN 1.1 problem recently reported isn't exactly the same thing, so you should check the latest.

Mantle doesn't work in DA:Inquisition on my wife's PC. She has R7 260X. DX11 works well. Does Mantle work for you, guys?

Mantle working fine with 17.8.1. I did have an issue with the beta of 17.8.1 however. When I rolled back to 17.7.2, I did a full uninstall followed by DDU. If you tried the beta at all, maybe you need to do a full clean and reinstall 17.8.1.

On another note, fullscreen video playback is now flicker free, and glitch free, as opposed to 17.7.2. (using MadVR in MPC-BE)

My 280X appears to be stuck in 2D clock speeds, just like it was when I tried 17.7.2.
I updated Afterburner to 4.4.0 beta 16 and it hasn't made a difference.
    Any ideas? Win7 64bit.

    So far so good :)
Drivers are Solid as f.unk :D -> MSI AB v.16 working and Our Guru Tool also (its better for 17.8.x)
    OverdriveNTool.exe -> strongly recomended.

    Tested so far:
    ME:A = Great
FH3 = Great (IMO The best driver for Forza)
    AC:S = Great 'somehow'
    R6 Siege = Great
    Heroes VII = Great also

Overall, thanks to Unwinder (MSI AB v.16) now i can set my Fans and with OverdriveNTool i can edit exactly the same values as i have in 17.71 with TriXX !
    Everything is OK

PS. As for HBM OC i have BIOS with 1050/550 1.212v/1.337v
I hope they Fix OC soon, no other complains from me :p
