Well did up some benchmarks for some fun.Only did R9 290 Non-x vs 980 GTX

980 GTX is a good card, but you can still buy 2 new R9 290,3 used R9 290 for less. Also of course you can buy 2 970 GTX for close to the price of 980 GTX.

    My cost YMMV
    R9 290 Cost 355 Canadian
    980 GTX cost 721 Canadian

Chart with green and red colours.

    EDIT:ADDED
I am running 1513 core/8000 memory. The card throttles because hitting and going over TDP limit but it really does not matter at all.New Bios should be out soon.

Done up a 3dMark run and The 980GTX outclassed a R9 290 and 780Ti in the same computer.

    1.980GTX-Boost clocks 1450-1513 throttling core/8000 Memory.

Well done, I only miss information about resolution used.
And maybe that image exported table with data can use smaller font as it is huge :)

OT: And If there is someone who has 780Ti available for testing, I would love to see those minimal/average fps for Metro:LL, Hitman:A, TR.
But while doing one bench at lowest settings and then setting one option to max at time to see how big each type of details have on new architecture versus old one.
Comparison between 290(x) and 980 is not that much interesting since it is way too different architecture.

I added Resolution size to data chart ,and yes the font is huge.

I have 780Ti benches but not for every game in the chart.Did the 780TI benches on driver 337.54 and sold off the card and went to R9 290 card.

    That's a good idea.

Whats the card throttle to? that can affect score a good 5-10% if it goes low enough consistently. Anyway 290 here costs 370x2, thats 740 USD, 200 more than the 980.

    Best deal is definitely 2 970s, only $100 more than a 980

On games where the fps struggle, the 290 almost equals the 980. How is this possible? The 290 is not even "x" while th gtx is clocked as high as it can be.
Does thisean that the 290 comes ontop of the 970?

Test were R9 290 not at max overclock for that card.

R9 290 are good cards and fast.I do not know about the 970 card do not own any.

I can tell you that benching with R9 290 card/s single/crossfire is pretty good.

Hell I switched from 780Ti SLI to R9 290 crossfire because for me it was just better.

Now its 980 GTX SLI to take place of the R9 290 crossfire.
