.. Let me see if I understand this. I probably shouldn't bother, but yknow. If I was to smoke a pack today and then not smoke for a year, could I be considered an addict with a "classic case of denial of addiction"? What constitutes as an addict? To me, an addict is someone who is "addicted" to something, in such a way that they can't go a day or weeks without said thing. They are attached to it in a way that they can't or won't go through the days of their life without it. But what is the threshold for this? If someone quits drinking for years.. and then has a drink from time to time later in life, but doesn't abuse it.. are they addicted still? I wouldn't think so.. but that's what you're trying to say toward me. To me, this is incorrect, if we're talking about the word "addiction". Saying I'm denying my addiction is factually incorrect, since I'm not addicted whatsoever. Does it sound silly? Maybe I guess, if you don't want to try to see where I'm coming from.. I guess anything could sound silly in that case. Doesn't make it any less legit.
3 days max then, sounds strange that it would still be affecting the guy up to a year later Sounds like an emotional attachment, missing smoking and the stuff that goes with it, people talk to each other smoking, maybe difficult to interact without a cig in hand, I know when I stopped it was strange going outside with my mates for a smoke, and me stand there without one, almost felt out of place
I quit for 7 years then started again, which sucks. Much harder to give up second time around. I'm gonna try vaping.
I smoke occasionally once or twice a year. Either a Cigarette or a Cigar. But never got addicted to it because I had other better ways of spending my Money. But My Aunt (My Dad Sister) Smoked for quite a while during my childhood but then she eventually quit after a while. Pretty much my dad's side of the family smoked like they were chimneys. There were some from my Mom's side but so many. I remember during one of our parties one of the relatives got pissed off because they had to smoke outside. Yeah I know it was cold but we do not want to smell you or blowing smoke in our faces. Good job mate on going cold turkey for 5 months. Keep it up.
3-years now with vape... gonna decrease nicotine to ~0% in a 2-years and hopefully quit. Now 8mg and next time ill make 6-4mg
For the people dumb enough to do it, applying more than 4.2v to the coil in a tank using a silica wick will produce toxin levels upwards of 100x that of a cigarette. (You can find the report in the New England Journal of Medicine) Sounds strange, yes, but it's not uncommon from what I've been told by other people that have quit smoking.
The price of ciggies just went up by $5.50 a pack (25's). I am not prepared to pay that! Quitting is the best option.
Like some others here, I switched from cigs to vaping, and it took me 18 months, to go from 12mg liquid, down to 0, then one day I threw all my liquid and equipment in the bin, and haven't looked back....This was two years ago.
Quitting is the best option, regardless of price. I'm hoping to be at that point in the next several months. I would love to be able to throw all my vape gear in the trash and not look back.
I quit smoking around 2 years ago. I feel much better for it. Best part is the sense of smell returning. Now I run instead.
OP here. 6 months today! I´m beating the adiction! It becomes easier with time and i´m not giving up any time soon. We´re all butt kickers and bad ashes believe in yourself it´s possible!
I'be smoked for 16 years. I tried in the past to quit but I found out I didn't really want to quit. It all depends on if you REALLY want to quit or not. If you don't really want to quit, you won't. If you WANT to quit, you will. I quit cold turkey. When I decided to quit for good, I didn't have any withdraws or cravings. Now I've been smoke free 3 years+
Let me see hmm...politicians won't quit being corrupt, law enforcement won't quit be corrupt, priests won't quit molesting kids, teachers won't quit brown nosing rich parents, doctors won't quit stealing from the poor, ex-mercenaries won't quit protecting drug cartels who won't quit shipping drugs and ammo, the elitists won't quit corrupting them all and innocent people won't quit falling victim to a corrupt system, because they can't. I'll quit when I'm ready thanks.
I smoked for over 30 years, and quit about 2 months ago. Just said screw it, quit smoking cold turkey, started working out and eating right. Lost about 15 lbs already.
I stick with my vape these days, much cleaner, no more nasty smell or tobacco stains smoking is the worst thing anyone can do, my dad smoked all his life and now he's regretting it big time as it's ruined his teeth, only reason I got into it was from smoking weed but after switching to a vape i'll never smoke again.
