I have an EVO 840 with Windows 7 x64 but the drive doesn't seem to TRIM automatically. I can do it manually from Samsung Magician, but that's not ideal. When I do, performance improves massively. The disk is used a Photoshop scratch disk (like a page file or swap space) so it fills up and empties all the time. Right now I have the Microsoft SATA drivers in use. Do Intel SATA drivers have an advantage regarding Trim? I didn't see any boost in speed with the Intel drivers, but it did remove the SATA drives from the Safely Remove Hardware list in Windows, which wasn't ideal. Cheers
AHCI is needed for native TRIM support in Windows 7. So in your BIOS you will need to switch. Prior to doing that, follow AHCI install instructions here: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/plextor_m6_pro_ssd_review,6.html
Deep forum on SATA and RAID drivers http://www.win-raid.com/f23-Intel-AHCI-RAID-Drivers.html Edit: Also, you should be sure you tried RST drivers and not chipset ones.
Try trimcheck to be 100% sure if TRIM works or not. http://blog.thecybershadow.net/2012/12/09/ssd-trim-check-tool/ Run the file as ADMIN from the drive you want to check. If it does not work on first try, give it some minutes until you run it again.
