how can arguing that "many cards do it, its ok to be out of spec" (from my side) in any way be seen as discrediting the data provided about the RX480? you are aware that i need to acknowledge this data in order to argue like that?

so where, link to post of me where i do discrediting of this data or source site (tomshardware).

    From this seal shall
There are no cards that SUSTAIN above the maximum set by the spec.

Do you know the difference between sustained and spikes ?

Because it sounds like you don't.

Funny how I did not see al this bashing and ppl blowing it out of proportion when nvidia did it...

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960,4038-8.html

I think some ppl are just bitter and want the RX 480 to fail so hard they have to keep coming up with issues on the RX480 and how it's worse than the precious NVIDIA GTX 970. I kinda feel sad for these ppl.

They're not the same. First of all its only the Asus Strix with the outrageous spikes, second of all there's is no sustained power draw above the maximum.

AMD wants the rx480 to fail if they release it in this state.

Theres a big difference in terms of energy between short 200w spikes and sustained 86w draw...

and you know the harsh words some amd fans have had for the 10x0 so why not just stay quite and not stick up and defend you brand?
for having over 2.25x the ram size as the 970 it does not do well but its a cheap pos throw way card anyway.
amd was too cheap to put an 8 pin on it....just like that they f'ed themselves once again went from no brainer to oh forget it I a will wait for ....x card
afterthat train wreck of a hype train people will still stick up/bash them.....who cares if they go under at this point today's top offering of vga's and cpu's have no fear anymore....zen??? lol please that's been how long now?so you know pretty much issues plagued pos train wreck agian???

Anyhow, I would like to see some input from actual motherboard manufacturers. I know PCI-E has a spec, but from reading the PCI-SIG link, they do not even care or test power use. Maybe the RX 480 is out of spec, but it does not matter as the spec was designed so many years ago that in real world it is obsolete.

Basically everyone is just guessing if this is an issue, or a moot point. No one posting here really knows.

you clearly didnt read the link.

there is no 75watt max on the pci bus. Its a boot default.

it can be anything the mobo maker wants up to 300watts.

Well, your link is wrong. I actually went and read the PCI-E electromechanical specs...
