    I have the Visiontek 4870.

When you first power on your computer, a few LEDs light up red on the back of the 4870.

Three of the 4 LEDs light up red for a second, then they all go off. Are all 4 supposed to light up?

Same here , 3 LEDs light up.
If you discconect power supply you will noticed they will be lighted after boot.

I have the Sapphire branded 4870 card, and as far as I can tell, at least in my machine, boot up works as follows:

    1. Machine is powered up, and the videocard's fan spins up to max, and all the LEDs come up as red.

    2. LEDs turn off, and fan spins down.

    3. This repeats two more times, till motherboard gets Hold signal from PSU (Silverstone OP1000-E), then fan speeds go down to videocard bios defaults, and LEDs completely turn off to show that everything is ok.

    4. System continues boot-up.

You can check the following to get a low-down on deciphering the diagnostic LEDs: Sapphire Tech Forum

Hope that helps a bit. :infinity:

3 of mine light up then go out, it is apparently fine.

They are diagnostic LED's, below is the info.

    HD4870 LEDs

D1601 - Red LED On, shows critical temperature fault

D1602 - Red LED On, shows External power connector A was removed

D1603 - Red LED On, shows External power connector B was removed

D601 - Red LED On, shows critical Core power fault

they're on the back of the card, near the end. They blink on and off as soon as you start your pc :)
