question for PII

    yea my friend might be selling his PII-400 and im currently running a Celeron 433 would this be a logical upgrade.... and how much?

    By like practically nothing. I wouldn't waste the time setting up the "new" system.

    From all I've seen, you would actually lose speed. The P2 has more cache (512kb vs. 128kb), but it only runs half vs. full speed (so 200MHz vs 433MHz). All the benchmarks I've seen in the days of the 300A@450 vs. P2-450 showed that an equal clockspeed Celeron could outperform the P2. Of course they had equal FSB speed then, so there is that factor, but regardless it is not worthwile. Have you tried any overclocking on your Celeron? I've heard of 433's hitting 100 FSB speeds (giving you 650MHz) with good cooling. It might be worth a try.
