Hi there we are planning on getting the Htc vive for my daughters birthday coming-up in a few weeks so I wanted to ask you guys what we will need to run it semi-decently { hardware related} of course.
We ran the Steam benchmark and my only concern being the Cpu which is a Amd Fx 8320e,It says it can run it semi decent according to the spec-sheet.
Graphics card is Gtx 980 and 8gb ramm windows 7 sp1, Will we be ok for time being until I can get her a better cpu?

    Much thanks Nick z.

CPU aint what matters too much, need more gpu power. All the vr games i've ran were fine with a i5 6500 which is apparently worse than that fx cpu.

But yes, that will run most vive games fine, just need to dial back the resolution slider perhaps.

Any idea what games you are looking to get?

Most are really gpu heavy. Some online games with use a decent amount of cpu.

Ah I have no idea what games she wants to play? Was just worried about the cpu not being able to keep-up but I have an upgrade coming-up pretty soon anyway so all good.Thank you for the reply Feel a little bit better now. Just need to check if this Gpu has Hdmi 1.4 or DP 1.2 . Asus Strix Gtx 980.

Games that were specifically made for VR noticed are more GPU intensive, the ones i've tried ran fine and at that time i was running a 2500k @ 5ghz. Had a gtx 1080 though.

The 980 has DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0.

Get a mini display to displayport adapter in advance, that's what the breakout box uses if you can't use HDMI. I'd imagine you're using the HDMI for their monitor currently and that card only has 1 hdmi port. I had to get one myself.
