Can I do 4K with a 2080 in this game? With settings maxed out and what not?
Not at all at that resolution. Game is really heavy even for a 2080.
My 2080 Ti maxed out does like 40 fps lol
The first thing I noticed was that ultra shadows is a huge performance killer. Turn them down to medium and you'll double your FPS.
That's crazy! 3 year old game! Geez.
While gorgeous is was not well optimized which is disappointing considering Remedy's track record. Hell I was able to run Max Payne 3 @ 1080p with max settings on my Geforce 560ti. And it's still one of the best looking games in my opinion.
Remedy had nothing to do with Max Payne 3, its a rockstar game using different engine.
I did not know that. I thought Remedy had a hand in all the Max Payne games.
Remedy was brought in to assist on story and combat.
Rockstar did the bulk of the heavy lifting, but Sam Lake was consulted on the story. And Remedy were given early access to playable builds to offer input and feedback.
one day i'll get around to playing MP3..... lol, that was not meant to be a pun....
It's rare that sequels can surpass their prequels, but MP3 somehow managed to pull it off.
well we have noire crime story, with a noire love story sequel. MP3 could only be better than 2 was.
MP3 falls short story wise, it's still a good story. But it can't measure up to Sam Lake's work on the first two.
But... MP3 is absolutely phenomenal when it comes to it's combat. The gun play is incredible.
I don't agree with those that think MP2 was a disappointment. It's easier then the first one, which is a little bit of a letdown. But, otherwise... it's a solid, great continuation of Max's story.
And, it's the one aspect I feel MP3 fumbles horribly. The ending of Max Payne 2 brought Max peace. He had accepted his wife's fate, accepted who he was.
But, MP3 starts... he's a drunk, pill popper. Still tortured by his wife's death. It feels like kind of a slap in the face to the growth he made in MP2.
The thing I love about MP3 was the cover system that the first two games desperately lacked. Plus there's plenty of bullet time.
I thought the cover system went against the game majorly.
I've always felt Max Payne 3 plays so much better if you play it as if there's no cover system. It forces you to dive into the fight, and be more mobile and agile.
Lets be honest. Alan Wake is the best game Remedy has made. After Control and another two years break maybe we can hope for a sequel.
Btw good news on that front : https://www.dsogaming.com/news/remedy-now-owns-the-publishing-rights-to-alan-wake/
Remedy wants to make a sequel. Sam Lake still says Alan Wake is his proudest achievement.
But, to do AW2 they want to be able to deliver top quality in every aspect, and as such... they can't financially do it at the moment.
They've said AW is very important to Remedy, and the one title everyone in the studio brings up and wants to continue. Now that they own the IP and publishing rights to the original game, it's possible for them to really dive into it.
But, being an independent company, they need to make sure they can handle the financial load an Alan Wake sequel to put the company under.
Control will run like ass with RTX effects enabled. Mark my words.
Oh yes, I think it will run like Quantum Break on MS Store the time it got published.
Of course it will, that's kinda the point.
I imagine the base game is going to tax GPU's very heavily if you want 4k and/or 100+fps, so no way your adding RTX stuff and getting high framerates at your native resolution.
