So, SLI finally works with this game (using Watchdog SLI profile) ? If so, how is SLI scaling ? 1GPU vs. 2GPU ?
Yeah the VC 2015 redist was altered and it's been slowly updated over the course of a few days with a few games each day, latest update yesterday night saw about a dozen games updated. Quantum Break, Ittle Dew 2, Wolcen, Project Zomboid, Silence, Eden Star, 7-Days, Candle, Solus Project, Victor Vran, Pharaonic, Division. Kinda annoying checking Steam downloads and seeing all these games having been "patched" but at least it's easy to tell if the download is ~19 - 22 MB for all that it was probably a redist update.
Why Steam doesn't just have a centralised folder for all the redistributables and then have games use them as needed is quite beyond me! I mean I have 750 games installed from Steam and many of them have 100 MB+ of the EXACT same VC++ and DirectX files that just waste space on my hard drives. Sure, you can delete them - there's even a tool that scans the Steam games folders and does it automatically - but if you ever have to revalidate the game then those redistributables get redownloaded. You'd think that here in 2017 that someone at Valve would have thought: "Hey, why don't we just keep all these files in a single folder called Redistributables and have the games go there for the ones they need!". I cannot think of one legit reason why that would not work. It would, right? :3eyes:
^ or have the games check for installed redists, install missing required ones if needed, and use them I agree having the same shared content for every game is stupid. Especially as it indeed needn't be in the game folder anyway, just installed.
You're joking, right? Who on earth reads EULAs? lol What is the difference between a game storing redistributable files in the Steam\SteamApps\Common\<Game Name> folder or a Steam\Redistributable folder anyway? They are both technically inside the Steam folder even if you opt to install games to a different drive.
Yeah, I know. LOL But, Microsoft does not allow it. They need to be bundled with every application every time.
This would solve just half the problem. Some redistributable packages are specifically compiled for specific game containing specific libraries and their versions only required by that specific game. Maybe newest common package is version 10.10.10 but my game only works with 10.10.09 version, so I must make redis package for my game only with that version only. This is especially true for older games with outdated packages and legacy code. And there are hundreds of libraries and a lot more of those packages versions.
Valve keeps track of those too though, they have a pretty extensive compilation of runtimes ranging from .NET, XNA or what it's called, DirectX and of course VC++ 2005 to 2015 with the newer runtimes of 2013 and newer having multiple different versions. I just maintain it manually via the VC++ compilation pack found on these forums together with the DirectX July 2010 redist and a couple of others but Steam does a pretty good job at bundling together most of the more common ones though a few games might use some less common installers generally found outside of the libraries covered by the "_CommonRedist" folder. (The UPlay installer for many of Ubisofts games for one example.) Yes it's very well animated/acted. I don't understand the hate against this game apart from being too short, which it really is.
A lot of people's hate is tied to the TV show episodes only being streamable on PC. The original Win10 Store exclusive PC release, and it's shoddy PC port.
Has anyone tried SLI ? http://www.dsogaming.com/news/quantum-break-here-is-how-you-can-enable-sli-with-amazing-95-scaling/ I tried the SLI bits in the article last night. However, from what I saw, there were some flashing light sources and it seems to mess up reflections.
