This game is definitely not made to be run without upscaling. My 1070 struggles to even keep a stable 30fps.

With upscaling however framerate is really close to being completely locked 60fps with a mix of high/ultra.

So judging by your video, upscalling off and both shadows and volumetric light @ high you get over 70fps all the time?

Yeah, doesn't seem like the awful mess people are trying to make it out to be.

Specially the beginning of that video... 120+ fps. Yeah, that's just terrible.

According to benchmarks i'm reading, i will gain 6fps on the minimum framerates from the move to DX11, 37 - 43fps.
Not so good for the comparable AMD card (290x) that loses 13fps and drops from 47fps minimum to 34fps.

I'm not used to new games, as i have nowhere near enough storage space to download the game.

I understand why someone would stay away from the game when it has no MGPU support, and will be interesting to see if there is any non official way round it.

I wonder if the DX12 update that MS is apparently working on that added MGPU for devs who didn't have the resources will help with this game, knowing my luck it will and it will be exclusive to the MS store version.

    even @ 1440p i couldn't hold 60fps

turning off vsync help a little though

now 4k is another story , if you want 60fps just pick medium setting , upscaling on then choose 4k and turn off vsync

don't tell me this game runs like crap even on a 970, that's too much if it's right.

The game has several things out of sync. I would crank fps to max and lock 30fps.

Example, you do a quick freeze run takedown, when you 'do' the takedown, you make a quick 60-30-60 transition which screws the camera pretty bad. Trust me, its very bad.

Back on the store version, I lived with 30fps lock @ 1080p with upscaling off. Was good enough, IQ is solid in some areas.

How much does upscaling actually harm the IQ? Hard to tell from videos.

It's a bit complicated but as I've read and understood it from posts on this function upscaling essentially runs at half the selected display resolution but it doesn't just scale up but reconstructs along with 4x MSAA.
    (1280x720 instead of 1920x1080)

Even so it's still blurrier than running without upscaling though the performance hit even for "just" full 1920x1080 is pretty hefty (Can almost halve it.) let alone 2560x1440 or "4k" 3840x2160 further hampered by the game engine not being multi-GPU compatible.

^ well that doesn't sound too good. Though based on Eero's video the game can be run @ 1080p60 without upscaling with some setting tweaks.

Still, will likely wait for a discount on this one.

I dont have the game, but according to benchmarks 1440p with upscaling disabled is a bit faster then 1080p with upscaling left enabled. Makes sense, since if upscaling uses 2/3 of set resolution that would translate to 1707 x 960.
Together with Remedys upscaling technique it might look similar or same as 1080p, but a bit faster. Thus VSR/DSR might prove useful?
