^ oh dear... this reminds me I must refund every single game I've bought recently as they're also on consoles.
It must be REALLY hard to be an Xbox one hardcore fanboy playing at only 900/30 and loosing "exclusives" like :Ryse SOR, ROTTR and QB. Specially when their nemesis (PS4 fanboys) play at 1080/30 REAL exclusives like BLOODBORNE. Now i understand why Ubi$hit wants to be "fair" with all of them: PC gaming at 1080/60 1440 and even 4K with better graphics could blow their minds.
Haha.. I was only joking, but you may actually be onto something Enter new villain: Alister Sleep. A. Wake Vs A. Sleep. Who will win? Only the Sandman knows!
^ I always thought that was the whole point of the name Alan Wake = A. Wake = awake. As it's all about what's real and what isn't etc. I almost got a mental disorder trying to follow the plot!
And? you expect a publisher that comes from a country dominated by console games to make pc games? Where MS resides in a country pretty well divided but pushed hard to go console cause evil pirates and fanboy loyalty. MS could not shut down 90% of their pc games studios fast enough, or covert them to xbox ftw studios. NM half assing direct x over the last 15 years. One companies bias is excusable where the others is shameful.
SOURCE: https://news.xbox.com/2016/02/11/quantum-break-coming-to-xbox-one-and-windows-10-on-april-5/ As someone who bought Tomb Raider via the Windows Store, I have found several concerning issues. Anything ran from the store lacks an exclusive fullscreen mode, which affects things like OSD's, 3dvision, SLI, DSR (Although you can upscale the desktop resolution to work around it), prevents OBS game capture for streaming (Have to capture monitor instead), the ability to completely disable vsync so that adaptive modes can be used instead, the use of hex editors, of modifying command line target shortcuts, and the lack of accessing or manipulating game config files. I will pray they release a version I can download via other methods, I'm done with Windows Store-bought games. I understand the idea behind tying to your xbox/windows account, and having cloud based saves available to either xbox or windows users, but I do not believe they will release the game on steam, as this is another opportunity to improve the windows store usage. Hopefully they find a way to REMEDY the issues I mentioned above.
Is there not away to bypass the windows store when launching games? Running the exe from the folder directly. What happens if you copy the game directory to a temp location, uninstall the game, then place the backup to a suitable location and then try and run it? Theres got to be away around.
The windows store install to a secure folder called windowsapps. No amount of permission changes will allow you to do anything but view the files within. Upon running the .EXE it states it requires it to be ran from the windows store. The games themselves are not ran like a standard game, instead they are ran in a virtualized environment, which prevents them from showing up as a dedicated process. Unfortunately, there is no fix, workaround or hack.
Remedy has said they would love to return to Alan Wake. But, the story has to be right. That's why they haven't yet. Quantum Break originally started as AW 2. But, it wasn't right for Alan so they morphed it into it's own game. They've said several times that since they own the Alan Wake IP, and with them being a small studio... doing a sequel really depends on their future. Can they afford to take on something like that? Quantum Break being a success would definitely help, but finding a publisher that will support them is a big thing.
I suppose the "petty cash" they got from Rockstar for Max Payne doesn't hurt either Would love to see another Alan Wake. For that alone I'll buy this game, to support Remedy. The fact it's a Remedy DX12 game is just a bonus!
IIRC, they really didn't get that much for the Max Payne IP. And the majority of that went into Quantum Break and employee salaries.
