There was no Sarge with his Cigar 9__9
I hope there is a game behind this. I was a Q3-head for years and those characters certainly did bring me some nostalgia. I really want this to be awesome, surprise us again!!! Please!!!
Wow, I feel like I'm living my PC gaming life all over again. TNT2 > Geforce 2 Ultra days...
Now all we need is for Half life to come back aswell and I will have come full-circle XD
Remember how... when people found out that Certain Affinity made the MP for Doom. People got all upset because of their history working on CoD and HALO MP?
Well, Quake Champions is being worked on by Saber Interactive.
The guys behind such gems as R.I.P.D. The Game... and of course, HALO.
Not looking good then?
Well, could be good. But, people expecting Quake MP... I have a feeling they will be very disappointed.
I can easily see this playing like HALO + Overwatch.
Saber Interactive have always been a sort of guns for hire, but Halo aside their resumé is a bit dull. And even the Halo remasters weren't perfect. I'm going to go ahead and ignore Quake Champions for a while.
TimeShift was fun, in a silly, campy and slightly flawed kind of way. But, ever since then, they've had no creative originality.
Hehe, that's kinda funny cause with this game, isn't it the same situation? They don't need to be creative or original, just bring Quake bang up-to-date graphics-wise.
At least nowadays you shouldn't have to lower the graphics to get 60fps, used to MP as keel back in the day.
YES!! I cannot wait for this one. It's great to see arena shooters making a full comeback. Between the new Unreal Tournament in pre-alpha and this one to come?? I am borderline orgasmic lol. If anyone hasn't seen it yet, here is a lengthy interview with Id Software about the upcoming Quake, with plenty of questions answered.
Judging by all the Arena shooters this past decade, the servers will be full for a couple months before slowly dying off.
I'm more interested in the Prey reboot myself.
Hard to say whether or not this will happen. Although if Quake Live is any indication, there will be players for many years. Quake Live continues to get a heavy audience, and is the go-to for arena shooter professional competition. Quake Champions looks to pull players from QLive and continue that tradition.
All of that considered, I find myself wishing this was the next in the numbered series, rather than an online multi-player only. If it were Quake V, it would have a single player campaign to enjoy, as well as the multi-player element. I am not complaining though, and am VERY excited for this release.
The positive is this still leaves the door open for Quake V
Totally agree with you there.
I am saddened. But I get it, the masses just dont wanna play the classic free for all frag fest. There have been many that tried it and failed. Games need more depth and its to be expected. I just hope they do it great!
You guys saw this? Damn!
Nice vid Undying. I swear I saw a map that looked like Camping Grounds in there.
Rocket Jumping looks cool. High-jump platforms etc. This is going to rock, but, I don't think there's enough hard-core death-match players left in the world to keep this game alive. People just don't seem to have the skill needed for these kind of games anymore. Too many will try it, get smashed and go back to csgo etc.
I think it is Camping Grounds map (redone).
Pure fps they said (hopefuly means Vulcan support right of the bat if this is idtech6 engine) high fps, high speed, blasting fun.
Keep in mind people...
They've hired Saber Interactive to co-develop this.
You know, the guys behind Will Rock, R.I.P.D. The Game and God Mode.
It's not exactly a great pedigree...
Well that video does look cool, I must say! But my patience and will for these type of games has more or less dissapered in the past ten years.
