    No the 70% score was real, if you read the latest issue of PC Gamer. Anyway, from I'm getting from the gurus here it's a damn good game and I just might pick it up, unless crash&burn will sell me his since he finish the game, LOL!

    Fact chance this game still has potential, like some nice mods, and trust me that game was hell to beat just wait to you get to the end, I gurantee you all will cry mama. God I whould love to post my last shot at the boss with darkmatter gun, but I don't have a program to change the screenshot.
    I swear that gun is too slow, but packs a punch.

    Really good game, Alot better than i expected. Very different to FEAR in terms of atmosphere, more of a straight shooter, but nothing wrong with that. I think FEAR wins it so far for me, but Quake is alot better than i anticipated.

    Anyhow, here are a couple of screenies. Runs great on my rig @ 1600x1200 Ultra High settings, everything max 2xAA. Might crank the AA up a bit actually :)

    Is it just me or is Quake 4 a ram hog! I saw my ram usage and it was around 1.7 to 1.8 GB !

    On adverage it seems to use 1.3gb, according to my matrix, which is about the same as bf2 and FEAR. however, when i first loaded into a level i did see it hit 1.9 for a second. Adv playing though is around 1.3gb. However, thats at the settings I posted above, lower a few details might help.

    I turned off "enable bump maps" and that used much less ram and the gameplay was much smoother!

    Thank god its single player! Q3 didnt get me very hooked with its UT2k4 like feel.

    Speaking of which, 2K4 is amazing. I just bought it, and the graphics are quite yummy all the way up. Good gameplay too!

    Ehhh.. Quake 3 came out slightly before the original UT, and 2k4 was a ways off at the time...

    Just stick .TGA into google and download a TGA reader/converter and change it to what ever format you want. Thats wot i did.

    I think this game is great! I'm only 4 levels in, but so far, I've liked everything about it. The graphics & sound, weapons, gameplay & action, level design have all been excellent.

    I'm glad I didn't rule out this game because of Doom 3. So far, Quake 4 = good old fashioned, action filled, first person shooter heaven.

    Man Q4 is freaken awesome!

    Doom3 was good for the first few levels, but it went downhill from there, with a major case of repetitiveness and alot of "been there, done that" moments.

    Quake4 on the other hand has much more variety, you get to drive tanks, and those Robotic mechs, the levels are considerably different to eachother, there are more outdoor areas, interesting gameplay and weapons, a few HalfLife2 style moments and stolen ideas, decent voice acting, great ingame cinematics and situations, brilliant graphics (better than Doom3), none of that "its-dark-i'm-scared-and-vulnerable" BS, and no "oops, I forgot to check behind that vending machine for the ID pass, now lets go back 200meters through the level" moments.

    Q4 is what Doom3 should have been :)

    Quake4=96/100!
    Doom3=75/100

    Good work id!

    Yes, because I like to shoot diffrent things, not the same enemies all the time, how boring.
