You are on a single 680? There is no way you get a solid 60fps, it's literally impossible with those settings.

Well your GPU has insane OC, mine has only 1241mhz and +380mem because it crashes or heats like hell if i push for 1300mhz. So you already have a big boost from your cpu and also from gpu.

Ok maybe I should OC my i7 920 even more to 4.5 and also the 760, but I doubt there will be some significant gain in AC4.

I will try it when I get home tomorrow. Run an OSD while playing ACIV at those settings, your framerate will fluctuate between 30 and 60, rarely consistent 60 unless you are out on the sea not in combat or in a quiet part of town with those settings and your hardware.

just tried them out in BF4 a little while ago and it seems like the FPS is very unstable/inconsistent coming from the 331.87 quadro driver.

the FPS inconsistency seemed to get worse and worse the longer i kept playing; right before i quit, i also noticed that both my GPU usages had sudden dips down to 0% and stayed there for a good 3-5 seconds. only things i've changed in NVCPL is the single display setting (global) and power management to prefer maximum (bf4 profile).

i haven't tried a complete clean install with the DDU app but, if anyone's encountered this before and has any suggestions i'd appreciate it.

    thanks

Um, no.. People just get angry when they find out their rigs aren't as fast as they thought it was. AC IV is a well optimized game imo.

It's just that many of the graphical settings are very GPU intensive. HBAO+, PCSS, and TXAA in particular. Using SSAO instead of HBAO+ will net you a massive frame rate increase.

I was playing at 1440p maxed out with TXAA, but I noticed that in areas with lots of foliage, or when it rained, my frame rate would drop down to the 40s, because TXAA is applied to EVERYTHING on the screen.

So I switched to SMAA and now I'm back up to 60 FPS again. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices to get acceptable performance, and just because you're unwilling to do that, doesn't mean the game itself is unoptimized.

I'm getting issues with scenery textures in Lockheed Martins Prepar3d with these, resulting in dark blocks appearing around the aircraft. I hope the Geforce drivers will not exhibit the same issue, if they are basically the same build.

I also hope nV adds some official support for this sim in future drivers, so we enable better AA with less cost to performance.
