    Hello!

I have issues with any new graphics driver since update to Windows 10. On Windows 7 I had a long startup problem which was solved by setting "EnableULPS" to 0. It fixed slow startup but increased laptop temperatures.

Somehow, after I updated driver to 15.11 (I guess), slow startup problem was solved without the need to tweak ulps settings.

And after the update to Windows 10 I face the slow startup problem again (it takes 2 minutes to load the desktop). The question is, why it worked fine on Windows 7 and stopped working on Windows 10? Now I have to disable ulps again and feel how the laptop becomes hot when idling. Should I tweak something else to decrease the startup time? I dont want to disable ulps.

The system has Intel HD graphics 3000 and AMD 6770M video cards. I tried with 15.7.1, 15.11, 15.12 and 16.1.1 (clean install with ddu) - every driver has a slow startup issue with ulps enabled, although on Windows 7 it was working fine.

I've seen that value "enablecroasfire" was set to 1, although I have different video cards, maybe this is the reason?

Sorry for a long post, but I will appreciate if someone could help me.

AMD Crimson Edition 16.1.1 Beta and Catalyst 15.7.1 are available at AMD for the following legacy cards, btw:

Legacy Crimson 16.1.1 Beta is running great on my HD 5450 on Windows 7 32-bit.

    Hi!

Just wanted to say thanks for all your work on this. I got it to work last tim; turned out I used a wrong version of the driver.

Now with this beta inf... The link to download the driver in your post doesn't work any more, and it seems there was a "new" version of the 16.1.1 beta released, dated 2/4 2016: h t t p : / / support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows+10+-+64

    What should I do?

What's the latest non-beta for HD6970 on Windows 7 32/64 bit please? Download links would be ideal. I've just sold this second hand and the purchaser is asking for the driver disk :/

Catalyst 15.7.1 are the latest WHQL drivers for Radeon HD 6970, these cards are now in Legacy group:

    Legacy Windows 7 32bit drivers

    Legacy Windows 7 64bit drivers

But there's no reason for him to install these Catalyst 15.7.1 WHQL cause they are quite an old now (29 July 2015). Latest Crimson Edition 16.2.1 (1 March 2016) are doing more than fine on few Legacy Radeon cards I'm using mostly in HTPC's: 5570, 6450, 6770. Those 16.2.1 can be found under the same links I've posted above.

And those original drivers provided on CD that came with the card are nothing more than ancient, for sure :)

    cheers!

    edit
Those Legacy Crimson Edition 16.2.1 drivers are unified, same installer is valid for Win7, Win8.1 and Win10.

If I modify C0*.inf of any newer than above driver, it installs fine in 'Disable driver signature enforcement' mode. However any newer driver won't load after reboot giving error -43 code. It looks like they really removed legacy cards support in driver code.

@user1: what do you mean by "newer radeon settings" in detail?

its radeon settings software (ui stuff) from 16.9.1 paired with the 16.101 driver, don't recommend using that pack , it has problems and is very old. instead i recommend using the 15.11.1 catalyst beta [ http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx ]

If you still want to give 16.101 a try still, use one of the packs from this post https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/16-101-2901-1001.409002/ keep in mind that apu support is included, but it is not tested.

It looked like this one is more recent. Why should I use the 15.11.1, which is a Windows 7 driver instead of Latest Crimson Edition 16.2.1 (1 March 2016) , which is supposed to work fine according to crazy_milojko: "Latest Crimson Edition 16.2.1 (1 March 2016) are doing more than fine on few Legacy Radeon cards I'm using mostly in HTPC's: 5570, 6450, 6770.
