I was just curious about this. When do you think we will see high-end pc graphics on a handheld device like a PSP or possibly Smartphone?

It just all depends. In mobile platforms now, we're seeing devices that can output quality of that compared to a ps2 or better. The Hummingbird chip from Samsung which is a PowerVR SGX 540 puts out 90 million triangles per second, while the PS2 is only about half of it I believe. Snapdragon can put out about I believe it was 22 million triangles per second, and the Adreno 205 that's in the more recent Snapdragon Scorpion devices puts out around 70-90 million triangles per second. I'm not sure right now if there are mobile platforms that have open GL ES 2.0 support though, Android I know supports 1.0, but I'm not 100% sure on 2.0. But it is amazing though. Soon we'll see mobile SOCs hitting 2 ghz, and even dual core.

    that will never happen

high end pc increases all the time, you can never instantly downscale that into a phone sized packet

right now high end pc, like 10 years time
