Someone going by the name of Cturt on Twitter has claimed to have officially broken the PS4 encryption allowing for modifications to be added or games to be unofficially installed. Personally I am less than happy by this news as it paves the way for cheaters to ruin online games for everyone else. Hopefully Sony acts quickly. https://twitter.com/cturte
Seems like it was true. But this is running on 1.76 firmware, so 99% of consoles will be patched already.
Would expect newer games to not work as well (2016 titles at the least), since OS updates free up ram and unlock a core.
Hmm no I doubt it, it's only like 3.10 that allows support for core 7 (or I guess, the SDK update around that time), this firmware version is like mid 2014 or so and the core was still being used for whatever OS or security.
Unless someone finds vulnerabilities with the latest firmware, then we won't be seeing anything more of it. Which is a good thing, as GTA 3 on the PS3 was rampant with cheaters.
in that cause it old news and dont Sony ban consoles with cfw anyway when it discovered, not to mention mention online functions need the offical FW no?
Old news? Perhaps so. But now it has been proven possible, it could also mean that a workaround with newer firmware might work at some stage with further work.
anything is possible, yes but then sony servers are always check the FW of your machine and checking it with what current, if your dont have current fw you cant connect to ps servers, and if sony find cfw on system bypass it they ban the hw and the account. like said this was done years ago
