Problems with DVDRW burner

    I unplugged the HDD and got it to boot with the install disk, plugged HDD back in And now it will boot to ether?????? I don't care why- as long as it's working.
    Will try to repair and/or backup and install new system one more time.
    Thanks to all that responded and I'll let you know how it turns out.

    May be the 1st drive went south and I didn't try booting with the 2nd one since it was doing the same-thing as the 1st.

    Reinstalled win7, optical drive works as it should.
    Haven't tested the 1st drive that failed yet.

    Try and see if you can boot a Linux LiveCD off that DVD-RW. If you can then your drive is fine. If not, I'd just go out and buy a new one, they're like $20 these days.
