I was just bored, so I decided to install deep freeze... After the installation I thought everything was fine until I clicked on the start button in my taskbar...
You can see that most of the text is gone and there is no All Programs menu!

    And after opening My Computer
    [IMG]
No text in the circled areas...

    Tried some applications
    [IMG]
Most of them do the same and alot of the text isn't visible. Outpost is just an example.

I think I have some corrupted file or something. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with Deep Freeze...

    Please help me!:(

    EDIT:
This is how my add/remove program list looks like...

What about in Thawed mode (disabled) ?

Shouldn't there be a tray icon telling you if it's in Frozen or Thawed mode ?

Maybe there is a issue with OP4 and deepfreeze or some other security software (e.g. antispyware), i think NOD32 should be ok.

firewall - deepfreeze (should be ok with OP 3.5 but i can't find info on OP4)

Deepfreeze isn't bad, but i do think it can cause some issues depending on the system, also im not sure it's fully compatible with all security software.

I would consider doing imaging/backup and restore instead, and getting VMware or some VM/Sandbox app for safe surfing etc.

Personally im not a big fan of either type of software (imaging and system freeze) they are often too integrated into the system and it seems even the most popular ones can cause system issues. I think backup and restore is a grate idea but i don't want to mess up my system doing it, that's just silly.

The exact problem is still there in Safe mode.
The problem also remains in Thawed mode...

The weird thing is that I have used Deep Freeze many times before and uninstalled it. This isn't the first time to install it on this Windows.

The other problem is that I have no backups. And because of my stupidity I disabled Windows System Restore to save disk space! :(

    Guys Guys...
I was just messing around with StyleXP and I started changing the Visual Styles until I got to this one...
    It's called SlateXP.

Others visual styles fixed only part of the problem, like this one...

And others didn't work at all!

I think Deep Freeze corrupted the system file which is responsible for the themes. But I dunno that file. Any guidance would be appreciated! :)

I'm not having a problem removing it or running it. I was able to remove it and when it was installed, it was working. But it messed up my Windows as you can see...

I just need help fixing what happened. I don't really care about Deep Freeze!

Ok so XP looks like that now after you have removed Deep Freeze, right ?

First of make sure it's really gone, then I'd try doing sfc /scannow

    sfc /scannow

    Edit:

Do you have StyleXP installed ? If so try removing it or reinstalling.

OK... I'll try the scannow command when I get home and I'll post the results as quickly as possible...

    I'll also try re-installing StyleXP.

Thanks alot Animatrix... Really appreciate your help :)
