The only problem with PC ports are the lazy ass developers that keep making them.

That video doesn't really seem to bring anything new to the table. Of course developers can't account for every configuration. Some developers do try to address many of these issues though through the use of betas, early access, and feedback systems. But even these have their flaws. Given that this video is a defense against Batman Arkham Knight's piss poor PC release Gamespot needs to wake up. The game runs like crap because WB handed the port job to crappy developer, and gave them only 8 weeks to work on it rather than letting them work along side Rocksteady with the console versions from the beginning. Gamespot please stop defending WB's poor decision as they've already acknowledged it and are now paying for it.

PC version is an afterthought vast majority of the time. Even a game like pCARS, game that started out on PC, was developed around a community of PC sim racers sold a lot more copies on consoles than on PC. When the game hit 1 million copies sold, the PC version had about 150k copies sold, the other 850k copies were sold on consoles.

Console games have been outselling PC games by a large margin for years, that's where the money is at. Sad but true. Therefore, PC versions are really just afterthoughts, more often than not.

Gamespot website never opens for me.. in IE or Firefox or Chrome.. I wonder if it's some advertisement thing they have running on the website that I've blocked via Hostfile.

    *shrugs*

    Who cares it's Gamespot.

Long story short.. exactly what eclap said.

I'll never understand the whole "configuration" debate. There are only 2 vendors for cpu and gpu. Is it really that difficult to code a game around that hardware or are developers just looking for excuses. Or am I missing it entirely?

I still don't get why they can't just delay the pc games until they are ready, we're all used to it by now, make the money off the consoles first then build the best version on pc, Rockstar gets its so why do other studio's fail so badly? It's not like we don't have enough pc exclusive games to keep us occupied, if the port isn't ready don't release it.

They're probably just looking for an excuse. Hell even though I haven't beat Batman Arkham Knight yet I have watched the credits and there were probably 50+ names just for the QA, which to me means there should be no reason for this game to be running as badly as it is on PC. You can't tell me that all the QA listed was only dedicated to the console versions. A majority of my rant is just being pissed at Gamestop for blindly defending WB, when WB and Rocksteady knew a year ago that there were problems with the PC version of the game and did nothing.

There are so many more variables other than cpu and gpu. Even two identical pcs would not perform the exact same and that goes for consoles too I imagine. Each bit of hardware has its own idiosyncrasies that come about during manufacturing and this goes for all technology. If it was just cpus and gpus that were the factor of bad ports then we would be seeing a much more massive amount of people complaining.

But the whole Batman fiasco goes beyond the expectancy of initial bugginess and that is due to an intentional lack of any commitment to the port. It's fair to give developers a little leeway on a buggy release but the WB/Rocksteady situation is inexcusable. It doesn't seem like things will get better either since things have been getting worse.

Remember how everyone was saying how PC ports would improve when the new consoles came out because they were just like low spec PC's which would make porting games easier. Yeah that seems like a long time ago now.

I'm still hopeful that DirectX12 will be the special sauce that fixes everything.

Sure the hardware changes but the APIs are a constant. Hence when major bugs occur.. Not one or or two experience it.. A wide range of PC owners and configurations experience the same crippling bugs. This lady is acting like developing for a GTX 680 vs a 980 is a major obstacle. Or developing for an Intel CPU vs an AMD CPU is. She's acting like dev kits etc aren't available to developers.
