AMD is getting ready to launch in January two Kaveri Accelerated Processing Units, that, by some reports, should boost both CPU and GPU performance by up to 20% - 30% compared to A10-6000 series APUs.... Prices of upcoming AMD Kaveri and Richland APUs Suface
I agree, the prices seem very high for an APU. Plus there is a huge disparity in price between the cheapest A10 and the A6.
No A8 listed, which seems rather strange but maybe would explain (to a certain extent) the huge price gap.
You guys forgot one thing about the price... It is not a CPU with integrated on die IGP... It is actually an AMD Radeon with some CPU's
Maybe software wil make better use of that Radeon and its parallel computing features . Maybe AMD played the right card after all..
Yep my thoughts exactly. These are the APU's where the GPU actually contains what AMD call "Radeon Cores" based on GCN architecture. Basically they are more in line with the APU's inside the Xbox One and PS4. Not identical by any means the clock speeds are MUCH higher on these desktop parts but their GPU core count will be much lower. PS4 has the most with 1152 "Radeon Cores" or shaders. I reckon these will have from the bottom around 120-300 shaders and the top end will be around 500-800. The top end will probably be equivalent to the GPU performance of a HD4870. Which considering the price now, and the boost in CPU performance your looking at a VERY nice purchase indeed. There might even be some room with decent cooling for overclocking as well. If your on a tight budget these chips will be a no brainer to be honest. Buy one of these top end chips, and use the left over cash you would of spent on a mid-high end GPU for some beastly 2400MHz DDDR3 memory and game away at 1080p with certain settings turned down obviously. They would make for a pretty beastly HTPC/Living Room Gaming PC. EDIT: HOLD ON A MINUTE!!! Just realized, if these DO contain "Radeon Cores" as they call them. Using the GCN architecture... Then will Mantle work with them???? Maybe this is what AMD had in mind all long!
It has already been posted that the full core will have 512 shaders, and be equivalent to a HD7750 which is beastly for a igpu. I also read it will crossfire with a R7 250 though I think the HD 7750 makes more sense. As for mantle I think it is supposed to improve on any pc hardware by replacing crappy dx.
I think Mantle is going to be supported from now on in every AMD product release, both APU´s and GPU´s, so i think that they are going to support it. Not only that but they are going to offer Battlefield 4 on their top APU because of that. Mantle and Huma are the key points of Kaveri and Richland. For an entry pc this is amazing stuff.
