Yeah really cheap. PCI cards go for around $10 now don't they? Edit: Guess they're not that cheap yet. Lowest price on NewEgg is $30.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...E&N=2010380048 1069609642&bop=And&Order=PRICE
the stores around me have never heard of this card lol , but with the am2 agp board i have in my second system build out of spare's should get a decent upgrade in speed from this compaired to the 7800gs when paired with the 6000 x2
There are cards in the gaizhals.at price comparison (for Germany): Sapphire: http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a305727.html PowerColor: http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a302818.html Club3d: http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a308772.html Not available yet. The shops all await them though. But I'm not too excited about them cause ATIs drivers for AGP have been crap in the latest past and I don't really think they'll bring out better drivers for the 3850 AGP version. Best to upgrade to PCIe if you can.
i have a pci-e based system already , this is for the agp based system i have . i just hope they do not over price it here
with regards to the discussion on bottlenecks with these cards. I'm scoring 5900 3d marks in '06, with a 3850 512mb in the rig on the left at stock settings. In stalker I went from using static lighting to Objects dynamic lighting with playable (but not silk smooth*) framerates & medium AA/AF settings, everything else maxed. Full dynamic lighting is smooth aswell. *game pauses for a moment every few minutes then runs smooth again. eta: 1280x1024 resolutions
That's about what I would have expected. Are you happy with the card? Sounds like you are overall. You're also using the PCI-E 3850 correct?
holy s***t the screenies from the last page show that the CPU is idling at 30C!!! if this right then thats really low temps.. there might be room for overclocking.. still one will need to have the driver install first, and running stable.. for now benchies seem promising. but i need more reviews to make that upgrade, else ill wait 1 more year and get a new system..
i know you have the cpu overclocked , but my 8800gts @stock only gets 8800 points in that version of 3dmark :gape: . i want one lol
Nice score, when I slightly o/c my card to I hit 10k. Surprised you didnt hit it with the cpu at 3.4. And yea people, in gpu intensive gaming a better gpu will always improve scores.
if i wasnt sold before, i defiantly am now. hell, i just wanted a card that was as fast as what i have, but didnt suck down the power or produce the heat that this one does.
What I mean't by that is , to up-grade to a PCI-e PC , now that mother broads , memory and mid range CPUs have really drop in price !!
wonder no more. http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=511&card2=550# the 3850 looks like its quite abit faster with a bandwidth of 52.99gbs, compared to 44.8gbs. on the other hand, the 7950gt does have a slightly faster texture fill rate.where as the 3850 has a faster pixel fill rate. all in all, the 3850 wins.
I'll also second that. I had the XFX 7950GT AGP. The HD 3850 AGP will leave it in the dust. Below are the scores I got using an overclocked A64 3700+ / 2GB RAM ... XFX 7950GT 512MB AGP / At Stock / Core 550 Mhz. / 1300 Mhz effective 3DMark05: 8396 3DMark06: 4323 XFX 7950GT 512MB AGP / Overclocked / Core 620 Mhz. / 1430 Mhz effective 3DMark05: 8867 3DMark06: 4698
wow, my 1950xt was doing almost that on a stock A64 3200+ and a gig of ram. 3dmark05 8733 3dmark06 4272
my agp system is running an am2 3600 x2 (@stock 1.9ghz) and a evga 7800gs co 256 , that scores 6817 in 3dmark 2k5 . hopefully this card will be alot faster
